A MASSIVE iceberg twice the size of Malta has drifted into a bay near Australia's Casey station in Antarctica.

The iceberg has drifted more than 1000km to arrive in Vincennes Bay, off Casey station, earlier this month.


Thats a bit ice burg

I had to look and see if this was the same berg that has been bouncing around down there. But nope, this is a new monster to keep am eye on

Gol den nugget holds 400 years' worth of Sydney water

Scientists at the station estimate the iceberg, B15G, comprises about 200,000 billion litres of fresh water. Sydney is using about 1.4 billion litres of fresh water a day this month, water authorities say. At this rate, the liquid locked up in B15G is enough to last Sydney almost 400 years.

B15G is one of 11 large pieces remaining from the super-sized iceberg B15.

Dr Smith said B15G posed less of a problem. "It's jutting out into the bay, and although it's cutting across our normal shipping lane, I think vessels should be able to get around it.
