I see the recent posts buttons have changed, now the button for the most recent posts, labeled 'Last 6 hours', doesn't work (at least for me).

Its not working for me either. I assume you mean you can’t use it to refresh the page…when you are on the 1st recent post page the button is dead.
It’s also dead when you are on the 2nd or 3rd recent post page…you can’t go back.

Right, you can use the 'new posts' button at the top but the 'Last 6 hours' button won't refresh the page or return to the page.
