Great find for archeologists!! I can't wait to see pics of the site. Peruvian mummies are very fascinating. They can shed alot of light on how the ancients lived, ate, and what they died from. The topic of mummification is morbidly interesting.

Archaeologists Uncover Nearly 70 Tombs at Peruvian Ruins
LIMA, Peru (AP) - Archaeologists have uncovered a multilevel grave site at the ancient ruins of Pachacamac, including mummy bundles containing whole families and pilgrims who presumably sought cures from an oracle deity for diseases like syphilis, tuberculosis and cancer, the project's leader said Monday.
"What is interesting in this cemetery is that it is totally intact, and we have mummies of different epochs, different periods, and they have their burial goods with them," archaeologist Peter Eeckhout, of the Free University of Brussels, told The Associated Press.

"This will be very useful for us to (determine) the chronology of the site and the succession of the cultures here," he said.

Hey great stuff!

The article states that the mummies were buried with thier artifacts, what do those happend to be? It also says they were suffering from diseases like syphillis.. how do they test a mummy for that?
