If anyone here likes auroras.. then make sure to look up in the sky tonight as there is a major geomagnetic storm in progress. Take a look at the Kp index in this link. As of right now it is maxed out at a rating of 9. The solar winds peaked at 950km+/sec. And I am excited to see that we will be getting alot of sweet auroras in the next few nights.

How far south from the Arctic are these visible? I would be kickass if I could see them.

I would think pretty far. I live in NJ and I remember about a couple years back we saw the arora up in the sky.. it was awesome

They have now issued a warning.... that I think I might of missed. It is nothing to worry about though as we have had this type of thing many times before. All that happens from it is an extreme aurora bourealeous show and maybe some electrical and radio interference.
