Last month, the Norwegian diplomat Charung Gollar was asked to present the UN with a graphic showing the main problems in the world in 2004. He presented a set of 8 pictures entitled "The power of stars" and was applauded for the simplicity of his idea. In spite of having no pretension at all, his work was presented to participate to the Nobel Prize of Politic Marketing. Attached are the 8 pictures presented.

Read the legends!

I hope now it Will Work!

Not sure if all of those "statistics" were that accurate.

What is genital mutilation? Over 70% of the women in the World have genital mutilation?

I call BS.

And I call BS on the starvation numbers. I call BS on the income numbers. I call BS on the Iraq numbers. I call BS on most of these.

The flags represent specific regions. In some middle eastern countries Genital mutilation (the cutting off of cauterization of the clitoris) Is a commonly used punishment for low level crimes. 1/3 of the the world goes to sleep hungry at night. The children dying is probably right on in some regressed countries and so on.

Not BS your just uninformed.

interesting analysis of the flags, good find souljah

While the legends may not be 100% accurate when it comes to percentage it does give a very good idea to the proportion described. nice visual.

www.members.tripod.com...
There is an estimated 135 million girls and women that have gone through this procedure with an additional 2 million a year at risk. This procedure is practiced in Africa (28 countries), Middle East, parts of Asia as well as in North America, Latin America, and as well as in Europe. It is now believed that the practice originated in Africa and is a cultural practice.

Brazil's legend is pretty accurate imo, it has one of the largest populations who live in poverty. Most South and Latin American countries have a high rates of poverty with the rich being a minority.

You can call it it whatever you want - it still wont change the Facts. And the Facts are pretty close to how the Flags are interpreted in this kind of way. Its not EXACTLY like the real facts, but its pretty close to the Real Picture.

I call you an a$$hole. Yeah, so you know what its like to starve at night with no home, food or water and especially no parents to help you as they died from more than likely AIDS.

Listen to yourself. Ok fair enough they might not be exact specifics but the FACT is this stuff happens and people like you let it. Call it BS without proper investigation. Ok then you get raped, beaten, whipped, tortured, blown up, shot and mutilated then see how you like it.

Well I just dont perceive the world as that bad. Sorry.

Maybe instead of flaming me since your so well informed about the world, you should be structuring their governments, setting up infrastructure, and educating them...

I thought Brazil was an up and coming economy? How can that be if they are all starving?

Maybe they need to go socialist for a generation and get the economy rolling, people used to living normal, and the job infrastructure into motion. And some education.

Else there is not much I can do as an American other then overthrow Brazil's government. Who here would be willing to join Operation Brazilian Socialism where we raise an army and intelligence and propaganda network, take over, and setup a proper government to get them on their feet and into health..?

Who is in, im in. We need funding and decent numbers. Else STFU

You are all cowards.

You all can criticize but when it comes to do something about it you all run like cowards.

Thats what I thought you are cowards.

Never open your mouths complaining about world poverty again.

The sad part of this is that a Diplomat, at the request of the United Nations, presented these illustrations which are riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. Then he has the nerve to criticize American citizens for not knowing where Iraq is. Hey, at least we know where Webster's Dictionary and "spell check" are!

Good one

Ok, so what. This guy said that the US is a main problem in the world in 2004. Many people say that, many of you say it. What's so different about this guy?

Well, well, well, Rasputin13, arent we Sensitive!

As you can see, the Grammary of this Guy is not the Issue here - the issue is to represent World Problems by colors of the World Flags. Is that so hard to understand? Or are you "hurt" what he did with American Flag? I bet thats the reason for your comment - How Misleading!

What about Angola? Burkina Faso? Colombia? Brazil? Did you even take a LOOk at those? I guess you dont even care - as long as grammary is Correct!

I see problems like World Hunger and Work Exploatation dont mean much to you - what does, is that spelling is right, I am Correct?
