Seb, you seem to think that there is no problem with having two candidates from the same "fraternity," i strongly disagree. Democracy is not about having two "cookie cutter" candidates, who belonged to the same Secret society, and have the same values.
You are ASSUMING that the candidates have the same values simply because they are in the same fraternity. Additionally, you are assuming that a fraternity always has political views. That may not always be so, I know for a fact it is not so with Freemasonry. I am guessing that a college fraternity is no different. This can be attested to by the fact that both candidates were of different parties.
