An Iran with nuclear weapons will be far more powerful than Hitler's Third Reich ever was, it's not a laughing matter.

An Iran with a few atomic bombs still represents little threat to the United States, which has thousands of hydrogen bombs that could be unleashed upon Iran on short notice.

Yes. I think people should really meditate on this plain statement in case it doesn't sink immediately.

The US, thank God, is safe from Iran. End of story.

Let's discuss something more important, such as how to improve education and medical care for our people here in the US.

Iran possessing just a couple nuclear bombs could get control of or destroy all Middle East oil fields, bringing the economies of the U.S. and Europe to their knees. If you don't think that's a real threat, you're living in a dream world.

Yes, for about a half hour, which is how long it would take the Minuteman III's and Tridents to get there. They could hurt us economically, as long as they're willing to be utterly anihilated in doing so.

If you really think Iran is in any position to launch such an attack, you're the one living in dreamland buddy.

Yeah, so? What good are they going to be if they're too contaminated to use for 50 years...

And what good is that going to do the Iranians if they're all dead?

What do they have to gain by such an attack, aside from total destruction?

They aren't afraid of death. The mullahs have said it would be their religious duty to use a nuke against Israel so if it goes bad for them, they just nuke Israel and go to heaven to their 72 virgins, no big whoop.

Rhetoric designed for domestic political consumption.

These types don't go in for suicide attacks themselves, they get somebody else to do it for them.
If they attack the US (or Israel), they will be dying, not just their flunkies.

When you see OBL flying a plane into a building himself, let me know.
I'm not going to hold my breath.

What I don't get is despite all their big talk, despite being SO convinced Iran is evil, djohnst77 and skippytjc STILL haven't invaded Iran...

Figure that one out.

Well, much like the mullahs, and most fanatics of any stripe, they think other people ought to do the dying for them.

Iran is too smart to attack Israel directly, they prefer to use other means like terrorism to attack Israel with the use of Palestinians like Hamas and Hezbollah, the Iranians aint stupid, they learn from other conflicts that they should not use their own forces to fight wen they can use others to die for them.

“Iran has long been believed to fund Hezbollah to the tune of at least $100
million per year. Recently, Western diplomats and analysts in Lebanon estimated
Hezbollah receives closer to $200 million a year from Iran.

Have you forgotten about the U.S. support for the Contras against the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua? Have you forgotten that the money the contras recieved came from the sale of illegal drugs and from covertly selling weapons to Iran?

Did you know that several of your congressmen have supported/are supporting Iranian anti-regime terrorists who fought both the Shah and the current regime in Iran, and that this terrorist group killed several American citizens and military personell who worked in Iran before the revolution? Did you know that the current U.S. government is cooperating with these terrorists although they are listed on the U.S. state department's list of terrorist groups outlawed in the U.S. -- Did you know that the U.S. government, CIA and Pentagon are considering using them as mercenaries against the Iranian regime? As a matter of fact, I think I shall open a new thread here next week on this very interesting subject which will expose the hypocrisy and double standards of the U.S. government even further.

Yep - Everybody has Forgotten that. And when you mention it, everybody will go silent and they really cant counter it with anything.

AND Lets not Forget who was the Man in Charge for this Operation:

Mister John Negroponte

Negroponte supervised the construction of the El Aguacate air base where Nicaraguan Contras were trained by the U.S., and which some critics say was used as a secret detention and torture center during the 1980s. In August 2001, excavations at the base discovered 185 corpses, including two Americans, who are thought to have been killed and buried at the site.

Records also show that a special intelligence unit (commonly referred to as a "death squad") of the Honduran armed forces, Battalion 3-16, trained by the CIA and the Argentine military, kidnapped, tortured and killed hundreds of people, including U.S. missionaries. Critics charge that Negroponte knew about these human rights violations and yet continued to collaborate with the Honduran military while lying to Congress.

Is he in Court now, being charged at? Like Slobodan Milosevic?

I dont think so. He's got some better work to do - as appointed by Bush himself.

On February 17, 2005, President George W. Bush named Negroponte as the first Director of National Intelligence, a position created due to recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission completed late in 2004. On April 21, 2005, John Negroponte was confirmed by a vote of 98 to 2 in the Senate, and subsequently sworn in as the Director of National Intelligence.

Thats what happens to War Criminals in USA - they get promoted to National Intelligence Directors.

Nice.

I mean, with sufficient funding, they should be able to acquire enough weapons necessary to overthrow the Iranian leadership.

Okay, maybe not. But they should try if they're so committed.

There is no more reason to believe that Iran should use nuclear bombs against the oil fields in the Middle East than that the U.S., Israel, or Pakistan would. Actually if you would think twice, there is less reason for Iran to do so than these other three countries, since Iran would endanger its own environment, atmosphere and population, being that the Persian Gulf oil fields are in Iran's direct vicinity. An Israel feeling/being threatened by Arab nations and thus using their nukes against them would be a much more realistic scenario. A powerful expansionist Pakistan, yearning for oil would be another more realistic scenario. And a U.S. faced with a massive and united anti-American uprising in the whole Arab world could lose control of events that would eventually lead to limited strikes against parts of the Middle East. Iran would never be so stupid to choke itself with radio-active pollution by striking the oil-fields right in front of it!

Supporting freedom against leftist communists or Islamic fundamentalists requires any method necessary. Of course people like you can see no difference between fighting for freedom and fighting for tyranny.

well, theres no hypocracy, just the fact iran is our enemy, one rule of war is to use whatever you can against your enemy and even politics(ie: make them look bad to get support from your population or allies), if we can, we will do it, they help attack our ally, only fair we do it back.

I don't think you're getting what Xmotex is trying to get across to you, which is that Iran would not do such a thing knowing that the U.S. has the ability to annihilate Iran and most probably would do so if Iran would just for the joy of it decide to nuke the oil-fields. ...................Where do you get your ideas from? What have you been reading or watching? Corsi, huh? Yeah, Corsi is good if you like science fiction and if you enjoy being lied to.

They really used impartial sources for their report:

www.intelligence.org.il...
www.israel-mfa.gov.il...
www.imra.org.il...

That's like using Syrian sources in a report as to whether Israel is a State sponsor of Terrorism.

EDIT: Although the second link has some interesting information.

The Financial Assistance Infrastructure

The Hamas has an extensive network of financial sources, operating within the framework of Dawa activity, with a total value of tens of millions of dollars a year.

1. Gulf States - A considerable proportion of the aforementioned funds originate from various sources in the Gulf States (The Gulf Cooperation Council States). Most of the funding is from Saudi Arabian sources, with a total value of $12 million a year.

2. Iran - Its contribution is estimated at $3 million a year.

Saudi Arabia is a state sponsor of terrorism so where's the US report on them?
Oh, that's right, the Saudis are US allies.
