ATS bullies

Can someone explain to me what the characteristics of a troll are?
Having seen that word used often, I still do not think I can recognize one..

Don't sweat it, godservant. Judging by the 'big guns' that have turned out in support of you on this thread, you have all the brawn (and brains) on your side.

The mods are pretty quick to jump on anyone who's being a bully or abusive. Click on most warns and it will take you to an abusive post.

And in cases where bullies are bullying just below the warn threshold, just keep in mind that despite the fact that their 'voice' may seem louder to you and you may feel somewhat alone/harassed, there are plenty of people who may not be replying to the thread but are reading the bully's posts and rolling their eyes in frustration as well.

Sometimes it's easy to feel that a curt or rude poster has some personal beef with you. It might make you feel better to check their posting history. If you see that the bully takes the same attitude with other posters, you may feel less harassed and will be able to brush off their comments more easily. If the rude post was a one-off, then it may just be the bully is just having a bad day. If it continues to be directed solely at you, then be sure to U2U a mod as Asala said.

Wood trolls are usually green.

However, cave trolls are usually more of a greenish gray.

Mountain trolls are almost always a dusky brown.

Pretty sure I saw one of those in the War on Terrorism forum not too long back. Surly fellow, and no mistake.

Anyway, in my experience, trolls come in all colors, shapes, sizes, nationalities and political persuasions.

In other words, I have met the troll, and it is US.

I don't think I've ever seen this.

However if you have, the Suggestions function should fill the bill.

At the risk of sounding like a hopeless fanboi, from where I sit, the ATS staff are uniquely and fanatically committed to ethical conduct.

I can't think of any other site of this size I've been on that has the level of staff integrity that ATS has.

Not bad, considering who they let be mods around here.

Must be the RFID chips they implant.

So if you think you are being bullied by staff, I say SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS > into the suggestion box.

This site is run and staffed by unusually good people.

They will listen. I am certain of it.

It's terrible people feel the need to talk down to others.
I have noticed recently there has been alot of name calling and yeah high-school behaviour!
It will end up spoiling the site for people who genuinly are interested in others and their points of view.

i never seen that to be honest

i doubt a mod will abuse their power to bully members, if it was to happen, there would be alot of backlash here from members.

I try to depersonalize this stuff as much as possible, but after the 50th time you get called a "traitor" or a "Quisling" because you don't want to see your country suckered into another fruitless war, it tends to get your back up.

When I get mad, I get even, it's just instinct.
A lot of people try to provoke you in here, that's not a slam on ATS (I'm here aren't I?), but a fact of internet fora in general.

I find it hilarious when I get a warn for profanity and the mod who warns me cusses more than I do.
