Is the new mt. dew game a hoax?

Mountian dew has a new look under the cap game where you can "win a sports pass and collect points for sports gear" but every single cap i have gotten is only good for one point. I think that this is intentional. Does anyone have any conflicting evidance before i give myself a reason to quit my mountian dew addiction. I don't think that such a good drink could be out to get us.
