Not sure this is the right forum, but I think it is. I was just wondering what it is that gets people to click on threads. The reason I ask is that I glazed through the top 20 or 30 in the most recent ATS threads, and didn't see anything that I wanted to click on. Then I thought, what would I have clicked on. Then this question came to mind. So I asked y'all. Go a head, answer, I won't bite

Having been into this for all my adult life and most of my childhood, it has to be a topic that will 'force' me to think, and not all the decades old "horse beaten to death' subjects..

Good point, I have yet to click on any of the Appolo/Shuttle hoax threads that have popped up in the past 6 months...Used to waste my time trying to explain why and how it happened, but it was an excersize in futility. Now-a-days I pick my battles, and they have been few in recent months.

Why do you click?
Habit forming?
Habitual?
Curiousity?
Part of my "job".

Thats why I "clicked" on this topic.....

I know what you mean, conspiracies that I have decided are true, no sense in trying to convert? anyone who thinks differently.
Sometimes I wonder how anyone can believe ANY of the gov't pablum concerning any subject..guess this ol' hippie is set in my ways..

I would say you have to consider who your target audience is. Take this place for example. An article titled...

"Basics of the chicken digestive system"

probably won't get many clicks.

"Horse breaks leg, shoots self" will probably have 500 clicks in an hour or two.

If Seeker says it is ok I'd like to test that theory :-)

Please do not let me diminish this thread, as it is a good one.
So a sensational topic will get clicks no matter how bizarre?

Well, what about spicing up the chicken one? Say,

The epic tale of an oppressed baby [plant]

How the mongolian death worm was conquored

Things that grumble in the night

Extremely powerful acid storage system discovered in chickens

Why was the seed brown to start and green when it left?

Proof of evolution: The chicken's digestive system

Proof of creation: The chicken's digestive system

What chicken digestive tracts and reptillian morphing ability have in common

My chicken won't digest food since the crop circle

Aite, I have to go to bed. Come on, y'all, come up with more ways you could get a lot of hits off of a chicken digestive tract thread!

How About:

KFC denies the use of the chicken digestive system in its popcorn chicken.

Chicken Digestive system...More Evolved than man?

OK no more ideas from me
*chickens out*

Some of the wild ideas and paranoid delusions that show up on this sight are fantastic. You just HAVE to read them. So I click. And I just might learn something, or get a bit of data that changes my point of view. Maybe not from the "poster", but what others have to say on that topic, and the links that they provide can be very eye opening. You shouldn't lock any doors until your sure you have the key in hand. SPECULATE & WONDER. It's a big universe..............

Well heres a good example of the "man bites dog" syndrome. Two threads posted within 4 hours of each other in the Aliens and UFO forum.

The Case for Rendlesham

Anal Probe's ?

Rendleshem has 23 replies and 441 veiws
Anal Probes has 28 replies and 678 veiws

If you look at each post, you will see a slight difference in the quality of post as well as the replies. But even Gazrok can't compete with a certain part of the anatomy.

Now I bet even 2/3 of you clicked on Anal Probes first, didn't you?
Come on admit it.

I click cause the voice inside my head tells me to.. if I dont......... I am afraid what it might do.................

btw abover statement is complete sarcasm stupidity and lame ass humor on my part...

I do not have voices inside my head that tells me what to do... even if there was I wouldnt listen to them anyway...

but for real, why does one click.. Here is a few ideas.

1) bored to death. (thats why i clicked this post.
2) try and learn something. (prob 80% of the people on this board is here cause of a search engine.)
3) this is my own.. I click on posts like 9/11 myths debunked because the sheer willingness of some people to share thier idea of what happened then when you prove them wrong they just get stupid or completely ignore the straight out proof one presents.
4) and to get news. (Most of the time..

None of your links worked.. Man, they sounded like great threads too.

I'll click on anything, I just can't control myself. It's like you never know where's it's going to lead you and it becomes an obsession. Like now I keep looking over at that Post Reply button just wondering how it'll sound if I just clic

There's no better excercise than clicking

I click if the subject interests me.
I click if the subject goes against my grain.
I click if the last post is by someone i enjoy reading
I click whenever the words "good" and "Bush" are together in a title

I click because God gave me an index finger to click with

I'm just a clicker at heart

I click to read Seekerof's comments

I click to read EdSingers latest Republican doomsday scenario.

I'm interested in lots of things. I click therefore i am. (?)
