Paraphilias

As a first year student of neuroscience, I have come across the subject of paraphilias in people. I am really intrigued as to why some people have them. I would love to know the makeup of their limbic system to see if it is any different than a person without paraphilias. Why do people have them in the first place? How does it come about? Is the potential there in all of us to have a paraphilia or two - both extreme and non-extreme? Its a fascinating study. I would like to hear some other people's comments on this.

Just wondering if you could please elaborate a bit more on the subject so more members can partake.

Since this term covers many different forms, there is varing information. on the affliction(?)

Thanks for the link. Although we know how to treat them, we still do not fully understand the cause of how a person develops a paraphilia.
