North Korea tested a short-range missile just before the UN meets to discuss non-nuclear proliferation treaty. President Bush and kim jong il traded insults during press confrences bush saying kim jong is a "tyrant" and kim jong calling bush a "hooligan". It seems North Korea is adament about keeping nukes and using them as an edge in negotiations.

Well Bush stays in shape, but lil Kim is short so if he just punches straight it'll probably hit Bush right in the jewels. It's over then.

how much should we take from north korea?

how much are we GOING to take from north korea?

if they sucker punch us we'll have to go all-out in our response or the whole world will see us as vulnerable and weak. they ARE the nation most likely to sucker punch....the trouble is, IF we use nukes we are almost definitely going to pull our punches, and it's doubtful we'll even use them at all. the awful truth about conventional warfare there's no way in hell we can fight THEIR army by ourselves without a massive draft.....you won't see too many people under 30 walking around in america.

yeah, i think your right about that, maybe were just waiting for an excuse to use a couple. I would think with NK's missile tech a far more likely target will be japan. Of course the japanese bought up their share of weapons grade plutonium after the collapse of the soviet union.

Bush and Kim should fight in a computer game; most probably some kind of deathmatch FPS.

well, who knows. As far as i see, NK is simply prancing around on the global stage, showing off its so-called power in order to keep people from bothering them. Kind of like "Ohh yea! we got a nuke! Dont f*** with us cuz we'll launch it!"

The biggest problem with this is North Koreas defense. Even if the missle hit its target (hopefully even this will become impossible, seeing as we are trying to develop a missle defense system, even though its failing), what does NK plan on doing next? They now have russia, china, and america, all with more nukes, to answer to. What would NK gain from accually launching such a weapon? Nothing.

I think the main goal here is to embarasse the US by using its allies as hostages (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan). Where the strategy of the US becomes very mysterious in its tolerance towards China's attitude. China's economic superpower status to the US is only due to their massive exports, without it, it would be less impressive. It also claims the right to keep territories like Tibet, Turkestan and Hong Kong, and even to invade Taiwan. The US has more polititcal and economic leverage over China than any other nation. In turn, China has more political and economical leverage over NK than any other nation. The US can pressure China that can pressure north korea. Instead China keeps on repeating that the US should negotiate with NK, as if a nuclear-free Korean peninsula were only in the interest of the USA, as if the USA should reward North Korea's blackmail.
The idea is, clearly, to get the US into an embarrassing and humiliating position.
What is weird is that the Bush administration is willing to accept China's behavior.
