NASA Scientist James Hansen, director of the agencys Goddard Institute for Space Studies has claimed the discoveries of recent research into climate change equate to "smoking gun" proof of human involvement in climate change.

They found that for every square metre of surface area, the planet is absorbing almost one watt more of the sun's energy than it is radiating back to space, a historically large imbalance. Such absorbed energy will steadily warm the atmosphere.

The figures corresponds well with the energy imbalance predicted by computer modelling of climate change. "There can no longer be genuine doubt that human-made gases are the dominant cause of observed warming," said Dr Hansen, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies at Columbia University's Earth Institute.

"This energy imbalance is the smoking gun that we have been looking for."

Yet another study pointing out the obvious. The only question that conceivably remains is how long will the coporate junta of western society keep, and get away with, trying to pull the wool over everyones eyes?

excerpt from another study two months ago:

www.timesonline.co.uk...

"The debate about whether there is a global warming signal now is over, at least for rational people," said Tim Barnett, of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California. "The models got it right. If a politician stands up and says the uncertainty is too great to believe these models, that is no longer tenable."

In the study, Dr Barnett’s team examined more than seven million observations of temperature, salinity and other variables in the world’s oceans, collected by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and compared the patterns with those that are predicted by computer models of various potential causes of climate change.

It found that natural variation in the Earth’s climate, or changes in solar activity or volcanic eruptions, which have been suggested as alternative explanations for rising temperatures, could not explain the data collected in the real world. Models based on man-made emissions of greenhouse gases, however, matched the observations almost precisely.

Great find, thank you for the information.

The problem is, i wish there was something we could do to stop what has already begun, but the only thing we can do right now is prepare for the extreme climate changes which are only going to get worse.

I am not trying to scare anyone, i am just stating the obvious. Some people might call those of us that are not blind to all the data and evidence that tells us that global warming is real "scare mongers," but i'll rather talk about making preparations now rather than being quiet about it and taking the brunt of these climate changes unprepared.
