Russian scientist warns of new Chernobyl catastrophe
28.04.05
A leading Russian scientist has claimed that the sarcophagus entombing Chernobyl's nuclear reactor number four is dangerously degraded and warned that its collapse could cause a catastrophe on the same scale as the original accident almost 20 years ago.
Professor Alexei Yablokov, President of the Centre for Russian Environmental Policy, said the concrete and metal sarcophagus was riven with cracks, was already leaking radiation and was at risk of collapse
The plant was closed down for good in 2000. They must build a new sarcophagus soon, because the original one was hastily constructed and is disintegrating.
Only a very small amount of the radiation inside of there had so far actually escaped. More then 90% is still under sarcophagus. I heard with all the concrete they put down, the construction became heavy.. some day it may fall down, get in subterranean waters and leave Europe with no water.

August 10, 2004 - Here's a hot new movie location: Chernobyl, site of a catastrophic nuclear meltdown in 1986. The zombie movie "Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis" has gained access to the infamous site for two days of shooting. "Chernobyl is very spooky and serves our purpose. We are shooting in all these abandoned towns and villages, with rusting equipment lying around everywhere," said producer Anatoly Fradis. The Chernobyl scenes are for the opening, in which a rogue ex-CIA agent is seen stealing the world's last five canisters of Trioxyn gas, the lifeblood of the living dead.
MosNews - Belarus KGB Probes Terrorists’ Claim of Chernobyl Attack
June 10, 2005
Belarussian security services have set out to establish the origin of a group called the National Liberation Army, which, according to information available on the Internet, claimed responsibility for an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that allegedly occurred in late May. “We were very alarmed by these rumors, we already have information about where the statement was put on the Internet from. We are doing all we can to investigate,” First Deputy KGB Chairman Vasily Dementei told journalists on Thursday. “It is hard to say how serious the aims of those who distributed this information were,” Dementei was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.
