POLITICS: Alabama Bill to Ban 'Gay' books and Gay Authors

Should'nt children be allowed to learn about real life? This is a fact of life. There are gay people in this world period. Taking books away is not going to change this fact. Politicians need to let teachers, and parents decide on what they feel is ok for each school, and each grade year.
I have to wonder when there is a one world government...will there be any old books left in the schools and libraries at all? Or will they be swept clean of the old ways and replaced with their new way books?

I think the best way to protect the hearts, minds, and souls of our children is to remove this book burning fascist from office.

This man is pure, un-American evil. The biggest threat to this country comes not from Red Armies, terrorists, Nazis, commies, and alien invasions, but from evil, controlling, simple minded men of wicked disposition who wish to dictate what people read, think, and feel.

I honestly believe in a sane country this man would be tried, sentanced, and executed for grand treason and crimes againt humanity.

The vocal and voting parents and teachers are the ones the politicians listen to. Politicians want to stay in office.

One worthwhile candidate, with equal news coverage, debate participation, and sensible policy, would see 80-90% voter participation.

That's never been the case so far.

You're asking people to choose between the lesser of two evils.

I say hold out for a worthwhile candidate to champion.

Hundreds of elections go uncontested every year because of this. The system begins to break down.

I also don't think people should work for corporations, buy from corporations, drive cars except in emergencies, pay taxes, send their children to public school, or eat processed food. :shrug: I'm more a cave man than you are Joe.

Of course, I'd rather be a cave man than an organism adapted to an unnatural environment soon to dissapear.

But one thing I am surprised about is that only one person has come and posted their support for this. And flimsy support at that...

Same with the Earth's Children Series, Tom Clancy has hetero sex in his books sometimes, Patricia Cornwell, author of the Kay Scarpetta books has hetero sex in it. Wait, she has lesbians to, Scarpetta's niece is a lesbian, so will be banned anyways even though it is in Virginia, a red state.

Whereas i do not believe ANY book should be banned, I do believe it is wrong to teach kids that homosexuality is an 'alternative lifestyle' and that there is nothing wrong with it. Besides that fact that the bible says it is an AMBOMINATION, it is purely a human psychological problem. Look into nature for example, do you see animals having sex with the same sex? no. Sex is not an expresion of personality, it is to acomplish one thing, reproduction and sexual relations that do not yield this mother nature will put a stop to. Look at AIDS, it is a disease common in homosexuals and is often spread by them. Why would nature create such a disease? to clean up the Unnatural perversions of people. Gays are not an ethnic group,alternative lifestyle or anything else but a severe psychological problem that needs to be treated by professionals.

well i fail to understand why homosexuality should be encouraged, even accepted... I hate this bs world we live in today where we have to accept everything, or be called a racist, homophobe etc... In my experience people who fear gays like you are themsleves gay. You just don't like the thought of it, probably due to your narrow upbringing. I bet you get a wee tingling sensation when you see certain gay activities and you just can't cope.......sad really.

As for me I don't give a damn. As I say to my girlfriend I like fannies (english version i.e. female genitals !) with no inclination towards men. I have looked into myself and no I don't like willies I like fannies. I suspect you daren't do that !

Yes, there are many things here which are untrue. My dogs are both male and they try to have sex with each other all the time. Maybe I should take them out back and shoot them? I would ask you why you think homosexuality exists if it's not natural. Procreating at the rate that we do is "not natural", be we straights just can't seem to keep it in our pants, can we?

AIDS being the fault of gays is a very old and very foolish wive's tale. (I don't mean to offend any wives out there) They were using that as a piece of unsubstantiated propaganda since the damned thing started killing people. The only arguable reason a gay person might get it is if he had sex with another gay person without a condom (no possibility of getting pregnant, see). But when straight people feel that there partner is clean, we tend to have sex without a condom as well. Sorry if I sound pornographic.

What about Africa? They have an AIDS epidemic there, and I can assure you that it's because they lack proper medication, sex education, and the money it takes to buy contraception. You know... being that 85% of all AIDS deaths occur in Africa and all. Something about you tells me that you wouldn't have much sympathy for Africans.

No one know what "causes" homosexuality, or even that it is a thing to be "caused". As far as anyone can tell, it's a perfectly legitamate genetic mutation much as one's freckles, moles, and all around uniqueness is a genetic mutation. The thing is that it is natural. Greeks figured it out ages ago. Christianity (though I've fallen from denominational to non-denominational) had to go and ruin everything... though if people were to revere ALL aspects of the bible as much as they hold these passsages regarding homosexuality to such a high standard, Christianity would be a whole new beast all together.

Of course, we're told to use Jesus as an example and HE did such deplorably heterical things as associating himself with prostitutes, hanging out with lepers, throwing tantrums in the temple, claiming to be the son of god... Things that none of the rest of us wouldn't dare try to get away with... even though he is without sin... and then went to hell for it all.

I suddenly have the urge to actually STUDY Christianity and make up my own mind about it instead of having it dictated to me-- oh wait.

No i am not a sick person thanks, another thing which annoys me with Gays, if you dont accept with everything they do, they say you ARE one... Thats crazy, are all anti-racists racist? anti-war protesters really war mongerers? Thats just gays once again trying to hurt the community.

I think you'll find that same sex marriages are primarily desired in order to give the sposes certain legal rights. I.e. in the case of becoming a widow the remaining spouse will have the same rights (to pensions etc) that a widow in a heterosexual marriage has.

As I've mentioned before in another thread, marriage in not a christian "invention", it's existed for thousands of years before the emergence of christianity. I don't know where people get the idea of a christian monopoly on marriage.

Secondly, marrage as we use in the westen world has always been based on monothesic religions, so please try telling me prehistoric gays invented marrage. The ancient Celts considered marriage or handfasting as some know it was a form of contract that had several purposes. These included the protection of property rights, the care of progeny (children), and the rights of the individuals involved in the relationships themselves.

There has always been a "legal" aspect to the marriage process. It's not all about God, a tree or some still dark pool in an ancient German forest. Sorry, but it's nothing to do with "prehistoric gays" and everything to do with someones legal rights.
