President George W Bush has said he is concerned about near-record oil and petrol prices and that he pressed the Saudi crown prince on how much the kingdom could increase production.

"The crown prince understands that it is very important ... (to) make sure that the price is reasonable. A high oil price will damage markets, and he knows that," Bush said welcoming Crown Prince Abd Allah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud at his ranch in Crawford, Texas, on Monday.

"We'll talk about his country's capacity. It's an important subject. This is an important relationship," Bush said.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest producer within the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

"We need the Saudis and they need us, despite the poor image of the United States in Saudi Arabia and their poor image here," said David Mack, vice president at the Middle East Institute.

Pretty simple.

Saudi Arabia - a state terrorists sponsor of the Middle East, hand in hand with USA. Togather looking for the Al-Qadea terrorists, which they both founded and created in the past. But hey, this is an important relationship.

Lets not forget that OBL is a Saudi Arabian.

That most of the 911 kidnappers were from Saudi Arabia.

And that alot of money comes from Saudi Arabia, the money which funds these terrorist organisations.

So, the real enemy of the USA is then Saudi Arabia - they are behind every attack on American People in last ten years, well at least Al-Qeada is an enemy of the USA. So, if you want to really eliminate a terrorist cell you should start at its roots, and "roots of evil" must be in Saudi Arabi then!

But hey, this is an important relationship.

"The price of crude is up because not only is our economy growing, but economies such as India and China are growing," Bush said.

You are correct by saying that India and China are growin economies - but does the price of crude oil have anything to do with current war in Iraq and the entire Middle East crisis?

Anyway,

"It is wrong that the president has let our national energy policy go so awry that he is asking a foreign prince for favours,"

"The passage of the Republican energy bill will, unfortunately, make things even worse, by raising gasoline prices while our oil dependence grows even more dangerous," Edward Markey, a Massachusetts Democratic Representative, said.

Record-high prices were logged in April for US crude oil, which briefly topped $58 a barrel, and for nationwide retail petrol prices, which hit $2.28 a gallon.

Bush nor the Prince can realistically do anything about higher oil prices. First off, the world demand is still there, it's hasn't decreased and will continue to increase (hopefully a little slower) Gone are the days of oil under $40 a barrel (imo) not only the demand but inflation alone will not allow that. Even if the Saudis promise to pump out more crude, the US cannot refine oil fast enough to affect prices at the pump. Prepare for a long hard summer of high gas prices and a bunch of baloney rhetoric that will do nothing to change the current situation.

I agree. Saudi crude oil is very hard to refine in gasoline, so the cost of refining it is higher therefore the price of gasoline will go up.

Bush will be saying:

"Give us your oil or else you'll find your country destabalised by my buddy, sorry nemesis Osama Bin Laden, and split into two by a civil war, and we'll be helping the pro-western mob exiled to the eastern half conveniently near those lovely oil fields of yours."

Naaah! I dont think so. They are REALLY good friends, that like to hold hands - they Need each other. So Suadi Arabia is not on the USA hitlist, yet. There are more important Enemis of the Free Corporate West World that need to be adressed sooner.
