Texas - The Lone Star State

Saying the victors do not necessarily write the history, Mexican-American residents of Goliad, TX want a pivotal point in the towns history to be re-written in a more "sensitive" light.

The Goliad Massacre, part of the Mexican-American War 167 years ago, resulted in Mexican soldiers shooting, burning and leaving the remains of 300 white Texans to vultures. Its savagery remains one of the most inhumane points of the War.

Today, Mexican residents want the incident re-titled to "The Goliad Execution," saying that white Texans used the term "massacre" to express hatred at them. The Diocese of Victoria, owner of the massacre site, will stay with the historical name.

" "Those men might have fought to the death if they thought their lives would not have been spared,"

167 men who have been killed after their surrender, it's a MASSACRE.

What's wrong with these peoples ? Why not sueing the descendant of the massacre for racism ?

That's funny.

Living in South Texas, I know both sides fo the story.

If ya'll can have the Boston massacre in Boston where 5 people died after they had been throwing rocks and ice balls soldiers,

then I think the muder of hundreds of unarmed men counts as a massacre, right?
