I didn't know that St George even HAD a public holiday.
Is the knight that slayed the dragon with the famous ASCALON?
Or is he the guy that killed all the snakes?

I'm playing a gig with my band, at a charity benefit St. George's day event, which is being organised by a local scooter club.
Hopefully it will be a nice relaxed affair, and the weather holds out.

Gear, there isn't a public holiday here for St. George's day, although perhaps we should have one, as most countries have a national day, or a holiday on their patron saints day. Anyway, St. George's day this year falls on a saturday, so people are free to celebrate it more than usual.

Went out for a meal tonight and had a traditional English roast dinner and a few pints of Ale.

Jerusalem as our national anthem.

Cry God for England, Harry and Saint George!

I was pretty surprised to find out that it used to be celebrated as Empire day! Well, I suppose it would be a bit odd to still call it that.

Just wondering if the Russians celebrate it? Isn't St George their patron saint too?
