Adobe have purchased Macromedia to challenge Microsoft in the business documentation software section. They have a fear Microsoft will monopolise the adobe business. Adobe and Macromedia have expanded in the mobile technology and together will provide competition for Microsoft.

Shares in Macromedia have risen 10% on news its US rival Adobe is to buy it for $3.4bn (£1.8bn) and integrate its software with its own.
The agreement marks the latest move in the consolidation of the software industry. In December Symantec agreed to buy Veritas in a $13.5bn deal.

Under the terms of the acquisition, US-based Macromedia's shareholders will own 18% of the combined business

Im glad to hear that Microsoft will not take over the world. Prices are ridculous already with Microsoft products. I think it is a very good idea to combine Macromedia and Adobe. Maybe we will end up with a standard program that reads pdfs, takes flash and shockwave. That would never beat Microsofts, lol
