Cleaning out a closet. I came upon a box labeled "old collectibles"
Inside was a plastic bag, full of postage stamps, old ones that I collected as a kid..
As I sorted through them, I came across some from the USSR, circa 1972.
A series, honoring their own Space Program!

Here are the first two (total of 7):

I thought they were pretty cool..
So, I am sharing them with all of you now..
I don't have a scanner yet, it's on order.
I took these with a digital camera Macro mode.
Can anyone read Russian?

Mizar,

I remember seeing some of those. I had a book containing those as
a kid, have no idea of where they are now though. I'd love to see what you have!

Mizar, thanks for posting those.

There is definitely a simularity in some of the artwork.

Here are a couple more of the russian ones.

That Rover reminds me of a crab. I think it's the placement of the cameras.

Is this a Mars lander?

Yes, I can read it. The first one says "Mars MAPC-2 Terraforming Mission Success" 1971, and the second says "Moonbase-Alpha Commissioned" 1972.

The last two are part of a stamp series celebrating alien contact on Mars in 1972. It says "USSR Enters Alien Federation".

I guess we didn't win the space race after all..

As a matter of fact, I used to own most of the Russian stamps presented here

Top one is a Russian space vehicle delivering a commemorative plaque to planet Mars in 1971.

The second is the Salute space station docked with the Soyuz capsule.

The third is the Moon rover Russians used to operate in early 70s with some success, actually this is the first model, they flew another mission later on.

Then we come to the Luna-9
moon lander.

Mars-3 landed on the red planet in 1971.

Man, I hate to think what the other ones say.
Should I post em?
