Here we go again.

I don't hate Americans. I dislike the American government and it's policies.
I live in the U.S. Have done for 16 yrs now, 6 of those spent in the U.S. military. Your military, not mine. 8 of those in the Gulf war. Many of the troops that were there have gulf war syndrome, which your government refuses to admit even exists.
Is that the sort of government you want? One that sends it's citizens to fight to expand it's corporate markets and then tosses them aside like garbage. Why do ppl stick up for a government that does not have their interests at heart? I don't understand.
I've lived all over this country, probably lived in more states than you have.
I've met every kind of American there is.
The majority are good honest hard working ppl. The problem is your country has been hijacked by the corporations. Government policy is geared to wards those corporations, not the people.

Don't tell me I hate Americans. Because if you sit by and let this government rape your country then you are the one that hates Americans.
You are the one that hates anybody with a different view point.
Close minded just like the state teaches you to be.

Wake up!! Your country is being taken from you and then you get mad at anybody who points out that fact.

Maybe Europe is more Nazi than the U.S. I'm not arguing with that.
But the U.S. is the big boy on the block, the one taking it's policies into other countries. And as I live here in the U.S. it's the U.S. I will focus on.
I can't say how Europe is run right now 'cause I don't live there.
And I won't allow my opinion to be fed to me from the press. I make up my own mind. I wish more people would do that.

Actually, this may deserve it's own thread...

- Pathetic AMM.
Trolling for points......again?

I don't think the USA is Germany in the 1930's but there are certainly aspects of it that I worry are definitely heading that way (outrageously blatent media manipulation and control, electoral manipulation, oppressive laws restricting personal freedoms etc etc - and, of course, I'm not saying any of this is completely unique to the USA either).

Mindless Consumerism, globally, is producing these enmass.

As we wave our flags and argue about who is better, The Man™ giggles with glee. We are all far beyond being "Germany in 1930". This is much more terrifying.

I think that there is a large contigent of ATSers who hail from the US who have issues with respect to a persecution complex.

BHR,
Yes, I am an american, but I am not suffering from any type of persecution complex.
I do step up to the plate though when dis-information and out-right bashing against americans occurs.
Both do nothing but engender further disagreements and resentment.
I do not out-right support the US goverment, but when people start making unilateral all-encompassing derogatory remarks then I have a problem.

I do not go out a seek to bash or debase those of other faiths, nationalities, why do you seem to think that it is okay for you and many others to do so against all americans?

Probably going to get in trouble for such a short post, but I would like to see some hard evidence/proof behind the emotional rhetoric.

Somehow, comparing the USofA to good old Nazi Germany just doesn't seem right.

We have our faults, but I kind of resent being compared to someone who mindlessly follows a lunatic, metaphysical, psyched out bunch like Hitler's fine folks.

Well Ghostsoldier, if you spent more time in the School-house and less time in the Bath-house, a little research would show you that 1930's Germany had sunk into a deep moral decay.....onstage sex acts, prostitution , under-age kids for the right price, Cocaine and corruption is what brought about the rise of the Nazi party.

If we don't reel in the sick Morons in Hollywood, than conservatives may vote in someone in 2008 who makes George W. Bush look like Barbra Boxer....do I want an extreme right-wing government in power?

Not really, but we may be headed that way if the liberals keep up their suicidal life-style.

-Bashing the military.

-Bashing the police.

-Bashing the Minute-Men.

-Bashing the Church.

Basically declaring War on all thats good in our society....and there may come a time when we conservatives also say ENOUGH!!!

Maximu§

PS: Why don't you change your name?? You don't deserve to wear the name of "Soldier"....I was a soldier for 4 years and earned that right. If you U2U me, I can give you a few "suggestions" for a new name.

OK, here it goes...

To backup the Author of this thread, and to show you a few Facts that American 2005 is Germany 1930.

In an essay coyly titled “Fascism Anyone?,” Dr. Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, identifies social and political agendas common to fascist regimes. His comparisons of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Suharto, and Pinochet yielded this list of 14 “identifying characteristics of fascism.”

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes the media are directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media are indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

A little part of our Human History:

Once in power Adolf Hitler turned Germany into a fascist state. Fascist was originally used to describe the government of Benito Mussolini in Italy. Mussolini's fascist one-party state emphasized patriotism, national unity, hatred of communism, admiration of military values and unquestioning obedience. Hitler was deeply influenced by Mussolini's Italy and his Germany shared many of the same characteristics.

The German economic system remained capitalistic but the state played a more prominent role in managing the economy. Industrialists were sometimes told what to produce and what price they should charge for the goods that they made.

So - to end this post with a quote of Vice President Henry Wallace in 1944, to answer the question of the journalists: "What is a fascist? How many fascists have we? How dangerous are they?"

Vice President Wallace's answer to those questions was published in The New York Times on April 9, 1944, at the height of the war against the Axis powers of Germany and Japan. See how much you think his statements apply to our society today:

"The really dangerous American fascist is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power."

Blacks in America and ESPECIALLY in Australia have been brought up in a system where they feel helpless... I have family friends who have been brought up by their parents, who basically taught them "Its no use trying because the white-man will just keep you down..." - Which I think is almost completly true, because black people have been stereotyped as "Gangsters" or in my country as "Abo's"... (NOTE ABO IS AN EXTREMELY RACIST WORD AND APOLOGISE IN ADVANCE FOR MY USE OF THE TERM) - So people already have a predisposed idea about what a black person is, this is all added to by the media, education even our parents...[\quote]

I would just like to add a note to this, yes most people white people u meet in australia will not admit it but are racist agaisnt "abos's". Although if you are a aboriginal you get very special treatment from all government agencies. Most large scale organizations will hire a aboriginal if one applies because of the fear of being sued. Also we give aboriginal free housing, and they get a extra allowance from centerlink for just being aboriginal. And then we have situations like that riot in sydney (forget the name of the street), now i do not consider myself a racist but i believe in fairness.
I am a australian citizen aswell, i do not get free housing, i have to work everyday, and then tell me that not 50 percent of aboriginal males are not unemployed alcho's? I know it a stereotype, but it does apply. They always claim of old gathering lands, they wanted the MCG (melbourne cricket ground) because thye claimed that right on that spot was the place they gatherd there are park lands all around the MCG, but no they wanted the actual MCG.
Aboriginals need to accept that the whiteman has taking over their land and either assimulate into our society or go live out in the bush and be one with the land. So they stop feeding off our tax payer dollars.

LA,

Thats a very stereotypical view of the liberal party or "left" side of politics.
Please try and look up some stuff before simply spewing out the stuff from the propaganda books.

Everybody hates a winner! At this particular point in history the US is the global winner. It kills people from Europe and the rest of the world to know that they are no longer significant.
