A U.S. miltary pilot and a Master Sergeant, both of the New York Air National Guard, were arrested Tuesday and held on federal narcotics charges after admitting they used an Air Force jet to illegally transport millions of dollars worth of 'Ecstacy' pills from Germany to the United States. Capt. Franklin Rodriguez, 35, and Master Sgt. John Fong, 36 were arrested after their return to Stewart Air National Guard Base where federal law enforcement agents watched them load the drugs into Rodriguez's vehicle.

The men were ordered held without bail at court appearances late Wednesday. Jennifer Brown, a lawyer for Fong, declined to comment. A lawyer for Rodriguez could not immediately be reached for comment.

Fong admitted he brought pills on three other military flights and that he was paid $10,000 a trip, the complaint said.

Christopher Giovino, an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, said each pill of Ecstasy could be sold for between $9 and $40. That means the drugs seized in the case could be worth between $2.9 million and $11.6 million on the street.

If convicted, the men face a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine, prosecutors said.

This is a shameful act. Not only have the pair used military resources to carry out their crimes, they have also dishonoured the military that they serve. Other servicemen are risking their lives in Iraq for dubious financial reward, while these two use their position of responsibility to earn drug money. Despicable.

Lets take thngs slowly here....everyone knows that synthetic drugs where used and proved by the military in the metros of west germany in the 40s and 50s....releasing them in a form of gas and mixed with fast food and then waiting in the hospitals to see who had headaches and bad dreams...

Heaven knows how the use of mind warping drugs was an everyday occurance in Vietman (anyone seen the film "JACOBS LADDER")

And lord knows how many times the military used the like without telling anyone..proving them on its own troops.

Whos to say the tablets were not heading towards iraq.....with each tablet having the face of uncle sam imprinted upon it..a little something for the weekend to take away the stress..

This is not new stuff. The military has smuggled booze and drugs since its beginning. Jets landing at U.S. Air Force bases during Viet Nam routinely were searched. The wheel well was a favorite place for F-4 Phantoms. Above the wheel was a plastic (fiber glass) cover that clipped in. Unclip and 16 cu. ft. of goods dropped down.

Navy A-3s used their bomb bay area.

Jacob's Ladder... absolutely love that film.

Here's a video piece regarding Gary Webb's expose of CIA drug running from Nicaragua.
