Area 51 secrets unveiled by Google

OK I found out what the black circles are...just the boring old regular green ones but in a different shade or something or other....

You do realize that satillite photos of Area 51 have been on the net for many years? and at much higher resolutions than what google shows of it. Also the base itself hasn't been top secret for a long time. Just mention the name "Area 51" and everyone will know what you're talking about. What goes on at the base itself is of course a secret still.

JRA I realize it is supposed to be secret and not supposed to be even listed on maps, just because we all know it is there the gov. is still from what I have heard is still denying its existance. Of course this is secrecy thing is a big joke and no wonder the fact that it is online cinches the deal they are a bunch of idiots.

The center of the SAM site(star) is the fire control center for the SAM's surrounding it. This is where the missiles get their target information. The points of the star are where the SAM would be located. The main target for a setup like that "Star" would be the FC in the center, without that the missiles just sit there looking cool, but useless.

As far as to why it has an outline like it does...maybe a visual thing. It could be that there was a site that looked like that somewhere in the world and they created that practice site to look like it. I dont think that it was meant to look like a "Star of David".

There have been public sat photos of Groom Lake available for years. People have generated 3D models based on photographs. People have obsessed over this place for a very long time, and there are countless photos available.

The gov does not care about people taking pictures of what they cant possibly know anything about. It's like taking pictures of the White House... who cares, you can't see inside anyway (without a tour). Operations like TerraServer, with higher quality imagery than Googles crap, do block sensitive areas because clearly detailed ground activity can be seen.

Don't ever think any entity stupid when it is quite obvious they took into account your viewpoint a very long time ago.

Actually they don't like people having the photos or anything else, thats why they took more land further out since there was a view from a nearby mountain range due to the fact that people were going there and trying to watch. If they had been so smart they would have recognized that people would do this and blocked that access a long time ago. They are simply dealing with the leaks as they come.

i wonder if u could look over pine gap in middle of australia its supposto be like area 51

You know, this stands to reason that with enough patience, the mapping tool can be used to pinpoint just about any secret base globally. All it would take is a suspected area in which a base is located, and then a few hours with one of the satellite mapping services. Even if there were exclusion zones, there would be suspicious gaps in the map data around those areas, or blackout spots.

Now if someone could only find me some satellite photos of Anarctica's entrance to the hollow earth base of the Nazi refugees, we'd be set.

I'm wondering if this is the town mockup that is shown being destroyed in early above-ground nuclear tests. At the closest resolution, it looks pretty old and battered, but I can't be sure. It is in the middle of the nuclear testing range, though.

I looked for it on Terraserver as well. I started at Rachel, NV (the town just NE of Area 51), and zoomed out far enough that I would have been able to find it. The images of Area 51, the nuclear test facility, the irrigation circles, etc, are all strangely missing. In fact, it appears that pretty much all of Dulce and Area 51 simply do not exist on Terraserver.

Wow, this is very interesting, thanks for the post. It still does puzzle me why the government denies its existence when there is clear proof that it exists...

That is the standard configuration for early Soviet SAM sites, namely the SA-2 Guideline missile.
This is the configuration US Wild Weasel pilots would have had to identify and attack when escorting missions into North Vietnam.
