Two suicide car bombs detonated on a busy road in Baghdad today. The cars bombs were apparently targeting a police convoy. Eleven people were killed in the attack and 37 were wounded. Most of the casualties were civilians but some were police officers. After a couple of hours a third suspect car was destroyed by US and Iraqi forces.
In another incident today, gunmen stormed an Iraqi police station killing 3 police officers and wounding four civilians.

The car bombs -- in the southern part of the capital -- apparently targeted an Iraqi police convoy. They exploded almost simultaneously killing 11 people and wounding 37 others, said police.

A police official said most of the casualties were civilians, although some police officers were among them.

The car bombs exploded on a busy road that leads to Baghdad University.

In the northern city of Kirkuk, gunmen attacked the Al-Adala police station, killing three Iraqi police officers and wounding four other people, including a civilian, a police official said.

The police station was reopened last week after families using it as a residence were forced out.

It was the second day of apparently concerted attacks on security forces in the Kirkuk area.

It seems this week has been a very deadly one for Iraqi and US troops. Lots of civilian casualties have also resulted from this string of attacks. Yesterday another blast, near Kirkuk, killed 12 Iraqi security personnel trying to defuse a bomb along a busy road.

The thing that gets to me is the civilian casualties. These people are trying to make it day-to-day and have to suffer because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Is it just me or are the civilian casualties outnumbering the military ones?

At least 18 people have been killed and 48 wounded in a day of attacks in Iraq, the Interior Ministry told Aljazeera.

All the civilians death shows that the people who does the road side bombs, car bombs etc. don't care about the Iraqi's and are not fighting for their freedom like they clamed.

Yeah well, the insurgency is supposed to be fighting for the people over there, according to some members, yet they keep killing more Iraqi civilian people than military or police personel....

i wish more Iraqi civilians would take up arms and kill insurgents as they did when some insurgents attacked some civilian shops and the civilians fought back with weapons a while back.
