After you have spent hours/days filing your taxes and
When you are making out that check to the IRS

remember where it is going,

It is used to fire the person who objects to FBI translators celebrating 911 at the office, and promote some of them instead.

It is used to get that accurate information from the CIA about all those WMDs those darn aliens must have spirited away in their UFOs from Iraq.

We are not wasting money improving the FBI and CIA we are 'investing' in

Homeland security:

It is buying segways in Santa Clara, CA
transporting lawnmowers to the annual lawnmower race in Converse, TX
putting $183,000 into the coffers of Tiptonville TN, where the big Al Qaeda threats are.

Homeland security & law enforcement money is not being wasted securing our southern border from the hundreds of foreigners illegally crossing it each day.

Your hard earned tax dollars go to,

create regulations to help rich corporations get richer, pay lower taxes [or none at all]
to make bigger contributions to multimillionaire congress persons to
create regulations to help rich corporations get richer, pay lower taxes . . .

With US federal encouragement and with the taxes they don't pay these large multinational corporations are better able to outsource your job to India or China or Indonesia.

So the next time you pay your taxes with pride and salute the flag remember,

'Only in America'
.

we technically pay taxes to back the federal reserve system. the cash you have isn't backed by gold as much as the feds ability to collect income taxes.

So you're taxes are really a way to make a small group of people incomprehensively wealthy, the private individuals who own stock in a member fed bank. Not your gov't, btw, our gov't is expressly prohibited from owning stock.

The fed is a bank that charges interest to all other banks. I'm not sure why we need this, but its good work if you can get it.

Hmmmm. April 15th.

I pay my taxes specifically so the IRS won't come and lock me up. That is why I pay my taxes.

Sounds pretty unpatriotic, doesn't it? Well, I might feel better about it if I actually used any of the services that I pay the government to provide to everyone one else, including many who haven't earned them and aren't entitled to them.

I pay to educate other peoples kids when I have none. I pay for other peoples healthcare when I haven't recieved medical care other than self-administered for 20 years or more. Retirement? Ha! I'm a smoker and don't expect to live past 60. So much for recouping my Social Security investment.

In fact, the only interaction I ever have with the government and the only time they ever pay any attention to me at all is when they want money from me. While I have no problem supporting the defense of our country, investment in our national security, or keeping our national transportation system running well, it really ticks me off when the money I had to scrape and scrounge for to pay the IRS is used to gas up some Senior Citizen's gas hogging retirement RV for the summer.

I don't really have a problem with paying taxes. My problem is when we pay them, how and where we pay them, and what the payment amount is based on. Our current tax system is not too far from outright socialism.

from the same site you linked...

"The top 50% were those individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $26,000 and up in 1999."

Sounds about fair to me. Do you think people who make under 26K should be taxed more? 26k and below doesn't even qualify for lower middle class in this country.

Fair? Far from it. The top 50% are overburdened. Abolish the current income tax system and institute a federal usage tax on every purchase, anywhere from 5 to 10%. That is the only fair way.
