i spotted this thread just in time, i almost started one about this myself... I just saw the origional pics on dreamlandresort.com:
(made by Chuck Clark, who was recently arrested in that FBI anti-terror squad!)

www.dreamlandresort.com...

All that crap about Area 51 is closed and moved to Utah... My ass It's more alive than ever

external image

This closeup of the new runway shows that the construction is nearly finished. Chuck observed a smaller vehicle going back and forth on the runway, possibly finishing the surface. The old runway 14R/32L can be seen crossing the new runway near its center. The intersection with runway 14L/32R is out of sight, but we assume that it ends there. Thanks to Chucks excellent contacts to SpaceImaging we should have new satellite images to verify this soon.

Area 51 IS definately STILL being used and visited by others..depending on the job you have in the military, they might send one there AND...there is a different name for it as well..

From what I have gathered or gleened from the articles is that the US is going to do some "fancy" to "strange" research in respect to UAV's. (?)

Makes me almost think they are going to take the "Predator" project/UAV to new and uncharted heights.

Seems strange and begs alot of answers to questions.....
Its quite apparent that the "policy of denial" from the Roswell days is still in effect and has grown to monsterous proportions.....like "duh" right? hehehehe

My information indicates that Area 51 is largely a manufacturing and R&D hub now, with operational deployment bases in Wyoming, Alaska, and Australia.

Area 51 is still very much a critical center for R&D, and secret intellegence activities. Most of the base is deep underground so noone from the outside can see it. I read somewhere that they now have more Janet flights carring people to the base daily then ever before.

The funny thing is, we were saying this three years ago on this site. ...still we are asking the question, "Is Area 51 abandoned?"

Here is something to clear this up: That was a rumor started by the government to get people to stop wondering about Area 51. At the time the photos came out, they kept saying it was closed down because they wanted to keep it the best kept secret and to have people stop wondering what it was for (...and why they didn't know about it).

But you know how rumors are. There will always be a post called "Is Area 51 abandoned?"

Maybe Area51 went dead for a short time so they could do somethin "major" but i dunno what that somethin could be, could be final test on the "aurora" or another top secret aircraft.

The keywords that sorta jumped at me here were "visited by others" and I wouldn't mind knowing what the different name is...

No not Quite, the (FALSE) roumor about Area 51 being abandoned came from two diffrent unrelated things. The first is a basic misunderstanding of the Dreamland (Area 51). Being a Top Secret Facility, the base is nocturnal. During the day time all above ground activities at the base shut down. So, the base looks abandoned even as work continues in its many underground areas. The Second peice was the reporter who wrote the artical about Area 51 being close got lost and ended up somewhere else on the Nellis Range. The reporter took Mailbox Road to the Military border( NOTE: DREAMLAND is at the end of Groom Lake Road). So the reporter was never at Groom Lake that day, and didn't see the Base. What the reporter saw was a part of the bombing range. Groom Lake is part of the test range. Hope this clears up some of the myth.

They're probably doing this to keep attention away from other facilities that are secret, and Area 51 is now like a decoy and they had to abandon anything they were doing there since people are aware of it.

From the reliable sources I've gathered, Area 51's underground facilities have moved to Utah by means of the underground. The upper part is probably being used by the "Aurora" and other top secret aircraft.

'What needs a six mile runway?' is one of the first questions that pops into my mind.

Interesting stuff. I'd gnaw off my own head for a couple of hours wandering around there.

Heck they have "runways" out in the salt flats longer than that for aircraft ground performance (high speed taxiing and the like) tests.

Which begs the question why build another one when you have SEVERAL available already. The answer to which is, nobody can get at THIS one...

ZZub, me too!

Wyoming, actually, from my sources.

And Alaska. Both bases serve a northern launch route for the X Craft into polar orbits. This allows lauches across sparsely populated areas, and as they enter a polar orbit, they are less exposed to orbital conflicts with the majority of other orbital traffic. In addition, they are in a very good orbital position to transition into almost any direction they wish to go, and cover most any point on the planet very quickly.

From what I have heard, Area 51 is still in operation, staffed with a good deal of assitance from the "Skunk Works" and is basically an R&D and manufacturing facility for X Craft and related projects.

What/Whom are "YOUR SOURCES"? I obviously do NOT need names here, I would NOT want anyone endangered here...

Specifically I would like to know their credentials that make them "sources". More importantly, have these credentials been verified personally by YOU?

I ask this because if what you type can TRULY be "sourced" I am VERY AFRAID...

Without mentioning names, ranks, ect, they are members of the US armed forces various environmental groups, with whom I correspond on a regular basis.

It seems that Area 51 (and HAARP) are among some of the worst environmental disasters owned by the US military (and the US military owns 90% of all the great environmental disasters!), and since the corps of environmental specialists for the military is relatively small, most of them have circulated through these facilities at one time or another.

This i what I feared... REAL sources coming forth with "hidden information" about the debacle that is current society...

I am going to have to go ponder this, and its ramifications at length...

This is most disturbing. I will get back with you...

I for one never thought area 51 was or is abandoned. I mean, I know there would still be security, But why would it be more strict than it was back in 1947?

This is true... You don't spend billions on a base to just walk away... As most have mentioned, the real work takes place underground, and at night on the surface, thus fostering a feeling of "disuse".... Like everything the base stands for, it's an illusion.... Oh, and Area 51 is just so the military can mark it on civilian maps...of course it has an actual military moniker.... Any chance on letting us know what is is Mag?
