Danny Carey puts Bonhom to shame. Same with Neil Pert.

Now for their time those two yes were the best. But right now (for rock and roll) the best belongs to Danny Carey.

Danny Carey was influenced by these two and has perfected their style. Danny Carey Im sure could play ANY rush song. But Pert could never play Ticks and Leeches, or Lateralus, etc.

Drumma please Carey couldn't play Mounier's easier beats and he is still going on the template that messugah left out for him 20 years ago. Proscriptor McGovern now there is a god. Proscriptor could play any Tool song at double time and he would sing while doing it. It wouldn't sound any good compared to maynard but he could still do it.

I second that.
One of the best all round musicians too. He's unique at pretty much anything musical.
Sounds awesome no matter what instrument or genre of song he is playing.

Bill Bruford?? hello!!!

All great drummers. But I got to say Mitchell is my favorite just for his ability to make Jimi's songs even more ethereal.

Some more I didn't see mentioned who are monsters.

Chris "Whipper" Layton

Frank Beard

Steve Smith

Trilok Gurtu

its hard to say who's the "best", it depends a lot on the genre that they play. I'm a metal head so naturally i'll have to go with George Kollias. He is a monster on albums and live lol he's my hero

Have you guys ever heard of a Tankdrum? I bought a double-side D#13 tankdrum at Tankdrum.com a few months ago and everyone loves it even though I am not the best player. I researched these instruments extensively upon purchasing, and I ended up getting a tankdrum and I am so glad I did! Anyway, here is a link to a drum like mine (not me in the video) in case you would like to hear a tankdrum in action. These guys might be up for some of the best drummers I've heard...
