NEW FORUM FEATURE: ANONYMOUS COMPLAINTS

Given the size of ATS recently, it's only expected that a few of our members may be dissatisfied with the way the forum is managed. We've seen some threads in the public forums on this, and there have also been U2U exchanged with staff and members.

Now, we have a way to accept productive complaints and concerns via an anonymous complaint form. You will see a new "complain" link in the board tool bar at the top. Clicking on this will pop a new small window similar to the upload manager. Just type your complaint and submit. While you must be a logged-in member to use the tool, I assure you we are not keeping track of usernames or IP addresses once you hit submit. There's no way to prove that it is anonymous, you'll just have to trust me (I hope I haven't done anything that would betray that level of trust).

Your complaint will be posted to a private, staff-only forum for us to review and comment on.

Please, don't use this to flame forum staff. If we get too many juvenile idiots using it that way, the feature will be removed. This is an opportunity to help us understand your concerns, tell us exactly how you feel, and hopefully offer us some suggestions for improvements.

Seriously though...I think this is a good move...as I'm sure, I KNOW, there are questions/queries/quandries that some may otherwise be too unsure about stating publically...perhaps this will provide opportunity to their concerns to be aired in a safe manner...

For some reason if you use certain punctuation in the Complaint Subject line the complaint comes up with an error message and can't be read...William can probably explain why, I am not for sure... So for now please do not use punctuation in the subject line. Includes ' and " as well

if you use any punctuation in the body of the message, you get an SQL error. kinda inconvenient for those of us who like commas and periods

I think it may have been fixed... but I'll look into it later.

By the way, how many complaints have you received? You probably are going to get a ton from those AV followers.

Over the past few days, at best, only 1 out of 10 posts using the complaint feature is a valid concern about the operation of ATS. If the members of ATS are unable to use this new feature for the intended purpose, it will be removed, and future complaints in public forums will be ignored or removed (since it is clear our membership isn't really interested in offering constructive criticism).

I've used it a couple of times with a complaint about something that didn't work, and an over-riding concern with statements in a particular thread that I wanted to bring to the attention of the staff as a group for quick action.

The second one was attended to, the first one I'm not sure.

I think you might need to be more specific with what the intended use is, and spell it out here. What is a 'complaint' best resolved by an anonymous message to all staff? It's not obvious to all, even if there are a few smarta$$es making tongue in cheek non-complaints on it.

Please don't be smarta$$es making tongue in cheek non-complaints, or you will lose what is a good feature for everyone including the 10% who seem to be using it properly.

I for one have never used it cos i am not really the complaining type(anymore) but i hope it doesnt get removed for the wrong reasons cos i might need to use it in the distant future

ANONYMOUS complaints.

The complaints are anonymous... ie... we have no idea who you are! A lot of the complaints have been asking questions... We would be happy to answer but you have to let us know who you are.

In other words if you have a complaint that you wish to have answered, please include your name in the complaint so we can contact you... otherwise we have no idea who you are.

If it's a valid complaint, why does one need to be anonymous?

If I ever make a complaint I will do it out in the open. No secrets; my promise to all ATS members.
