SAN DIEGO – Civilian and military emergency crews came to the rescue of a man who was hurt Tuesday while working inside a 100-foot-deep pipeline being retrofitted at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

There's a photo of workers coming out of the pipe, which is big enough for them to stand in, and a huge trench around the pipe's opening. Does anyone know if it is normal for "aqueduct" pipes, which they say this is, to be 100 feet deep?
