An Iraqi General in charge of a 1,600-strong interior ministry unit formed to deal with insurgents and criminal gangs has been kidnapped on the streets of Baghdad. Brigadier General Mohammad Jalal Saleh was pulled from his car. This comes soon after the full scale attack on Abu Graihb by insurgent which saw over 40 US troops wounded.

An Iraqi general who commands a special armoured unit has been kidnapped by gunmen in Baghdad, police say.
Brig Gen Mohammad Jalal Saleh was pulled from his car along with his bodyguards in the west of the capital.

The kidnapping came after two powerful car bombs exploded in Baghdad, killing at least one civilian.

This seems like a shocking lapse in security to have such a senior member of the Iraqi security services kidnapped.

Both this event and the storming of Abu Graihb seem to be seriously overshadowed by the death of the pope.

I thnk his life is very much in danger (if he's not already dead.) Insurgents have been targeting scientists, doctors, police, and military officials. Life in Iraq is anything but safe.

Just goes to show how much these "insurgents" care about the future of their country. Rather than go after foreigners, they target their own best people.

All so these little terrorist warlords can keep their personal power going by keeping conflict raging.
