Guys this has to be the funniest looking 'gun' for all times.

It looks like the breech block, working parts, sight assy, magazine housing, trigger and butt assy for a bog standard AR15/M16. It is minus the full barrel assy and plastic handguard.

It also looks 'real' inasmuch as a picture can look 'real'. However, I suspect that it is a stripped down airsoft at best, or a realistic 'plastic' replica at worst.

You are all incorrect.

The Patriot was a modified version of a Colt M-16, with a shortened barrel and the stock removed. It was designed to create a pistol that combined the feel and quick handling of a handgun with the force of a rifle. The length of the barrel meant that The Patriot had a strong recoil, and was notoriously difficult to aim. It used 5.56 x 45mm ammunition and was fitted with a hundred-round double drum magazine like those used on some models of G36 rifle.

A picture of the actual weapon is here, all others should be disregarded.

It is useless whatever it is. I could see putting a folding stock on it if it's a 5.56, for diplomatic protection or whatever, but a 5.56 out of a 1" barrel is just stupid.

What kind of muzzle velocities were they getting out of that thing?!?

With a barrel that short I have to imagine it was quite slow.

As the 5.56 rifle round is mostly effective due to it's high velocity - I can't see how this would provide any advantages over a 9mm SMG.

Colt AR-15

Looks like a custom cut&shut to me...

Very cool though, although it would likely break your wrist.

I have one made by olympic arms. Its very reliable. I tink its illigal to convert an ar-15 rifle down to pistol size. But if you buy one and register it like a pistol its ok.
Here is a link to the one i bought.
