As most of you are aware, China has not (as far as we know) joined the Sukhoi Pak-fa project while India has joined in with Russia to joint-develop
the 5th generation plane.
What do you think is the reasoning behind this decision not to join the Pak-Fa project?
Please share your thoughts.

I would seriously doubt India and china working on any project, forget military projects..
Maybe Russia wanted both in but both weren't too keen on working together so
Russia had to pick..
Or maybe India was in on it first and china decided to stay out...
China may be concentrating more on its J-XX...
While china is well into the development of its 1st stealth prototype, India is still in the design stage with the MCA..
Of course these are all my opinions, speculations..

Yeah, but have you heard those reports that China and India had a secret UFO lab under the disputed boundary areas?

It was pretty funny.
I thought the MCA is not a Air-superiority fighter, thats why India went for the PAK-FA while J-XX is designed as a Air-superiority fighter?
The PAK-FA needs huge amounts of money, any details on how much India is providing for the project?

Gimme the link for this UFO lab thing!!gimme!!
As for the MCA I think it is supposed to be a multi-role aircraft..with stealth features...Say like the F-35..
The PAK-FA is more dedicated stealth..like the F-22..
As for the money bit..I'm sure India's pooling in a lot because other than the avionics/onboard electronics the russians are better informed on all
issues..
stealth structure... TVC..etc. etc..

China-India UFO base
According to the few local people on the Indian and Chinese sides, this is where the UFOs are seen coming out of the ground, According to many, the
UFO underground bases are in this region and both the Indian and Chinese Government know this very well..
This actually ran as a editorial....

Uhh... aren't the people that live in those regions farmers and people who don't have much knowledge of military aircraft? Anything coming out at
night with its bright lights on would look UFO'ish to them.
I think China thought that the Russians could not be counted on to deliver, as yhey have had many projects aimed at developing their 5th generation
fighter but have later cancelled them.

maybe Russia is under pressure from the US to more help india develope stuff because russia and US are better friends then they used to be and India
and US are getting to be better friends, and India and china dont like each other so maybe US sees India and Russia as potential allies if a conflict
broke out with china

Why didn't China join the PAK-FA/T-50 project?
For the simple reason that the Chinese have opted to research and work on the J-XX/J-12/13's:

Maybe its just me but don't most of those pictures look similar to the Raptor. I mean china is known for its copying of another nations designs.

Yes, WestPoint23, I would agree, they do.
Not surprising though, to be honest.

I think we went for India because we have better Political relations with India than with China ..though in general terms Russia has greater
economic relations with China ...but that's due to location
Also, in general India is regarded to be a harmless non-aggressive country ...the same cant be said about China
Moreover if we had done the same deal with the China we would have to spend more money as the Chinese would have contributed more on technology
....
So I think we have done a good business deal.

LMAO, Russia (Tsarist) has taken more land from China then any other country.
Not to mention the secession of Mongolia due to Stalin.
-----
But anyway, back on topic, how would the J-XX stand up to the PAK-FA? I know currently China has alot of ex-Soviet scientists working for them.
(especially in the space program)

Well, which country hasn't copied a military design of another country at some stage of its military? China might only bother to copy off what they
consider the best in terms of something as important as an Air Force.

Honestly, I think the reason that everyones next gen aircraft looks like the Raptor is because stealth depends a lot on shape. Well if the US spent
billions and years developing the best shape, wouldn't it make sense for them to start with that shape?
It's going to look like the Raptor out of function.

Very true, alot of it would depend on the internal electronics, engine, radar, etc etc. That is where China has struggled in the past, building this
plane is going to be a learning experience.

I know they are catching up and need to base their designs on proven ones but I just hope they don't always copy as it would not say much for their
military.

I read on report that says around 2-4 thousand Russian military engineers and scientists work in China for all kinds of military and space programs.
We pay big bucks for knowledge.
