I heard someone say yesterday, probly on ABC World "News," that the administration shouldn't be held responsible for all the bad intel on Iraq b/c no one from the CIA has come forward claiming they were forced to give the administration the info they wanted rather than an honest assessment.

Those of us paying attention, of course, know that's complete horsesh*t.

So, now someone from the CIA is, in fact, making that claim. Bravo! This guy was fired and he's saying it was b/c he wouldn't cook the data. Good for him.

CIA official 'sacked over WMD'

Washington - A sacked CIA official is suing the agency for allegedly retaliating against him for refusing to falsify his reports on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction to support the White House's pre-war position, The Washington Post said on Thursday.

Described as a senior CIA official who was sacked in August "for unspecified reasons," the plaintiff's lawsuit appears to be the first public instance of a CIA official charging that he was pressured to produce intelligence to support the US government's pre-war contention that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction were a grave threat to US and international security.

Ever since the run-up to the Iraq invasion, I've been saying the CIA's getting the shaft. Everything that has gone wrong, just about, under this administration has been the fault of the CIA. It's so wrong. Many in the CIA tried to warn the administration against bogus claims (namely CURVEBALL's).

Hopefully more people from the agency will come forward.
