Wolfowitz sets Africa poverty aim

According to the article:

The US deputy defence secretary said he wanted his legacy to be "real success in reducing poverty especially in Africa, the continent which most desperately needs it".

Oh yeah i bet... redudicing poverty for the American multinationals in Africa surely... not the locals.

And more...

"The fact is that when it comes to poverty reduction, it is not a question of American foreign policy, or British foreign policy or South African foreign policy. It [poverty reduction] is a unifying goal and it is one that I believe in deeply."


No coz its just simply not on the capitalists agenda, domestic OR foreign policy...

If this is true, and in earnest...then perhaps it's an attempt to counter the inroads that the Chinese have made in Africa. Their presence is felt all over the african continent and the balcance of power there is shifting.
