The bird flu epidemic that has ravaged many areas of Asia has finally hit North Korea. It's efforts to curb it are slowing it a bit with burning of chickens but that does not help the already starving population. Government has stated that they have everything under control, but so does every government trying to prevent rioting and panic.

SEOUL, March 30 (UPI) -- North Korea has vowed to prevent the spread of deadly bird flu beyond the poultry farms where the outbreak happened, saying it has slaughtered hundreds of thousands of chickens and was taking countermeasures to contain the disease.

But officials and experts in South Korea raise concerns that the outbreak may be extensive enough to wipe out the impoverished country's poultry industry and spread into neighboring South Korea and China, given Pyongyang's poor quarantine equipment and technology.

Pyongyang's rare confirmation of the outbreak is considered here as its acknowledgement that it can hardly combat the epidemic without international aid. "We see the North's confirmation via its state-run media as its appeal for foreign aid," said an official at Seoul's Unification Ministry. "We suspect that it (bird flu) has spread quite extensively," he said.

Being true to the lineage of communist nations, North Koreas ignorance and denial of fallacies to the world will lead to its own demise. It cannot cry for help because of it has caused isolation due to its personal ambitions and now it will come back to bite Jong Il. The surrounding countries will be able to cope, however that is because they have outside help.

North Korea will be lucky if other countries give them Zippos to fire up the chickens, much less help them combat the disease. Personally, I feel that we should not help them because they will not only not return the favor, but also will show no appreciation. They are like the Soviets and we should only get involved to pick up the pieces not try to stop the collapse.

Below are some reasons North Korea should not be helped...never liked us, why should we help?
