This is some of my antiwar poetry. If anyone feels inspired, i would like to see more antiwar poetry here.

People die
so far away
there is nothing
i can do.
You will die
maybe today
whatever
will i do?

Why can't we start living
reason for distress
this generation keeps on dieing
their kids a screwed up mess

So we start to kill eachother
We will die soon anyway
Child with no father
Uncle sam sent him away

Works for the economy
Its the American way
Who was going to save them
Their workplace was their grave

All the wives and lovers
pray "Lord bring them home"
Bush get your hands off of Iraq
Their problems are their own.

Blood is thicker than oil
and lead will kill a man
Where are our brothers and fathers
We are doing what we can

Who wants to go get killed
Politics tie father to son
The world's most powerful man
Can't always do what he wants

We could all work together
Our world is falling apart
But wouldn't you much rather
Pierce your neighbor at the the heart?


As you can all see, i was very angry when i wrote this.

Despite my opinion(s) to the contrary, Tom Sawyer, I respect your feelings and attitudes on this matter. Truth is gleaned from two perspectives, and your perspective has merit and some truth.

I believe you wrote what and how you felt, and for that, I found your words to be sincere.

I realize that what i state in this poem is not ALL true. I wrote this poem many years ago. I was less informed when it came to political subjects. I don't want anyone to think i am trying to impose half truths, but i didn't want to leave them out. I also should say that this verse is refering to 9/11:

You see, the twin towers were the place of work for many of the people who died that day. This, i found unfair.

My sincere apologies.
My intent was not to degrade your poem, in any way, shape, or form.

I thought it was well meant and well written while expressing what you felt on this matter.

Unknown Emotion

When will i see the true beauty
That is the world today
A planet that has learned to smuther
Restles life away

We used to live in love
When death was rear and late
We learned to kill eachother
There has been no escape

But who would even listen
To me in love with life
When they don't even listen
To the countless that have died

If you could embrace death
Maybe you would learn
This whole world needs to change
Or live with those who burn

We just make life harder
And say it isn't real
You will grow much smarter
When you learn to love and feel

Ignore the lonely poet
Go join the evil in bad
But always, always remember
The life you could have had

its different to what i have read on ATS, thats probably why i liked it so much. I cant decided which is my best though

If you were to look at the world today

Screams of pain
across the world
as blood spills
into unpaved streets

I thought that the last one was rather dark, i like dark.

i like. Its different to what i have read in my time, so thats why i like it. I tend to like work that is different and makes you think about the world. Yours certainly done that for me

A final reprieve – granted to humanity,
A chance to realise that WE breed this insanity,
Whilst the candle of life continues burning,
This solitary world is endlessly turning,

Propagation of fear leads to pain and despair,
As our governments greed leaves a stale stench in the air,
Yet, as disgustingly trivial as the solution must be,
We blindly march on, unwilling to see.

A nation of puppets, strung up – in a noose,
Trapped, as if prisoners, we take the abuse,
If democracy reigns then why is it true,
That the opinions of many, are ignored by a few?

Our virtues left dangling, hanging by threads,
As we sit back, defeated by the propaganda we’re fed,
Whilst soldiers lay dying, there’s no real end in sight!
Is it really the fight for freedom, or the freedom to fight?

Amazing poem. You are very tallented to be so expressive and still use a strict rhyme pattern. I should like to see more of your poetry. It is not every day i admit someone is a better poet than me. Great work.

A short poem-

When i was young,
i was taught to play nice
and all the other things
that are useful in life
it is funny to think
all of this time
i regarded killing people
as such a terrible crime

but then i learned about war
and my point of view shattered
when kids shooting eachother
is a political matter
as political leaders
seek personal gain
in the end, no one wins
still fighting in vain

Ur words mean a lot as I havent really ever shown anyone else my work before. And i appreciate that it comes from someone who probably likes to live their life with their head up in the clouds, as much as myself

I just found this on my computer, i know its not strictly an anti-war poem...well its not full stop, but it fits in with the rhyme style of the last one i posted. I wrote it just after the tsunami event as it affected a lot of my friends at university, and as a result myself.

Some Body’s Daughter

Tears in the rain fall but nobody sees,
Hidden, she suffers as happiness flees,
Alone, once a child, now her child hood lost,
She stands isolated, crying, observing the cost,
Surrounded by lifeless corpses, numb,
She clutches her cross.

Unable to reason, to worry, to fear
Catatonic in stature, unable to hear,
Without motor reflex she falls to the ground,
No resistance, on impact no whimper or sound,
As her face lays on gravel, blankly staring at void,
She’s alone, isolated, only bodies around.


So much pain, so many victims,
Stranded we watch, nothing we can do,
Their lives crash away with angry seas,
No ripples follow, simply silence.
