Jerry Falwell taken to hospital after his breathing stopped.

TV preacher Falwell critically ill

JERRY Falwell, a noted US conservative television evangelist, was in the hospital after his breathing stopped, a spokeswoman said.

"The Reverend Jerry Falwell is stable but critically ill," hospital supervisor Melanie Harris told AFP.

"There is no evidence of a heart attack."

Anyone here know who Falwell is? I don´t...

Yeah. He was the founder of the Moral Majority which has long since disbanded.

May Jesus, the Saints, all aborted fetuses in heaven, and Rue Paul pray for his ever lovin' soul and speedy recovery! (but please, no faggots, K?)

Wow maybe there *is* a god! My prayers have been answered.

Falwell is a TV evangelist who has those big budget "You are healed!" type shows with hair that doesn't move. I think he also heads up a Christian Univesity - Liberty U - somewhere in the Southeast.

He's known for gay-bashing, and general other intolerances and disdain for anyone not just like him.

He was more of a big deal in the 80s when TV religion really hit it big with the PTL club, Jim and Tammy Fae Bakker, etc. TV evangelism has become more of a tired joke these days.

I'm so happy right now. I stand to win 50 bucks.

(who will die first, Falwell or Flynt)

www.larryflynt.com...

He's organizing on national prayer day, with thousands of supporters, to pray for the death of Bill O'Reilly.

50 bucks, here I come, doo da, doo da. But seriously folks...

No Christian can get upset about this, and if they do, I'm gonna smack 'em with a bible. Death is going back to God remember? (And leaving us the hell alone)

I'd post the humorous anecdote about Falwell and his mother in the outhouse, but I think it's in poor taste...

hehehe

Yep. Liberty U. Google 'em up. Amazing.

BTW - he's known for gay-bashing ... but he REALLY hates Catholics.
Considering the condition the pope is in ya' just gotta' laugh. Wanna'
bet PJPII and Falwell both end up at the pearly gates at the same
time??? That would be a hoot. Falwell would have a temper tantrum
if PJPII 'made it' and he didn't.

And there was a war in heaven... against the armies of St. Peter, and those of the Baptist... and the Lord gathered them all up, and caste them all far, far, away from him, and said....."Let there be peace!!!"

I can't believe some of the threads appearing these days. The thread about Johnny Cochrane's death, this one, and the pope getting a feeding tube are all the same. Thanks a lot my fellow ATS members.

Could you clarify Bandit?

The thread(s) regarding Johnny were relatively civil. Remember, people are still mad at him for getting O.J. off.

The thread(s) regarding the pope's feeding tube are mainly making comparisons to the Schiavo case, and as an excuse for Catholic bashing, which I admit, is somewhat in bad taste, but then again, so is telling people not to use protection in the AIDS capitol of the world. People have a right to express their feelings about a person who, though he purports to ease suffering, causes it in equal measure through his ignorant maintenance of age old wives tales and supperstitions.

And as far as this thread...

Falwell has made a career out of hate. People are glad to see him suffer, because he deserves to suffer. He's caused pain, and he will feel pain. Reciprocity...

That doesn't mean it's right to hurt people, but what's the crime in laughing a little in the face of death? I think it's healthy.

Some of the dumb jokes made in this thread, and in the Johnny Cochrane thread. One even bothered to post a pic in it to say that he doesn't give a damn. What kind of nonsense is that? Those are the kinds of posts that are bringing this webforum down IMO.

TheBandit795, what we're learning here today is that, when people here disagree with someone's politics, they completely loath that individual and would like to see them suffer miserably. Chances are, many of the people here on this board would be pretty gleeful to dance on my own grave if I were to die a miserable, suffering death. After all, I am a conservative, and therefor deserving of torture.

I agree, this really disgusts me, and I have lost very, very much respect for many of these folks. Ok, I lied, all of these folks.

Enjoy your hatrid, people. I hope it makes you happy, and I pray you don't meet the same fate Falwell has.

oh, don't worry, I am sure I won't.....
they'll send me away from the hospital, no insurance!!!
and just in case....well, I have a hand written notice that states I do not want their medical care....can't afford it.

as for anything I might feel towards any of these people, well it's not much. I kind of respect the pope, not because he is the pope, but rather the life he led in Poland.

Falwell, well, don't feel much about him one way or another.....he seems to be a fruitcake to me....

as for the lawyer, who cares!!! outside of his family I suspose.

but well, how will GOd handle it when all those good christians get to heaven and start whining about how their neighbor isn't following the good true christian gospel? And, what if, heaven forbid, the majority of yas don't agree with what God has decided is truth?

now, on with your judgements!!!!

That's so funny you say that. Falwell has known this for some time.

"If you're not a born again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."
-J.F.

"Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America."
-J.F.

"It appears that America's anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men's movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening"
-J.F.

"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals"
-J.F.

"I listen to feminists and all these radical gals - most of them are failures. They've blown it. Some of them have been married, but they married some Casper Milquetoast who asked permission to go to the bathroom. These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men - that's their problem."
-J.F.

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."
-J.F.

“When lawlessness is abroad in the land, the same thing will happen here that happened in Nazi Germany. Many of those people involved in Adolph Hitler were Satanists. Many of them were homosexuals. The two things seem to go together.”
-J.F.

Falwell himself was a proponent of segregation, and later 'recanted', but the extent to which he has changed his feelings regarding the inferiority of blacks is questionable. He does however, like them enough to capitalize on their accomplishments, often comparing himself to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was perhaps the most courageous man of the twentieth century. Just read those quotes I've posted and tell me..does Falwell bear even the slightest resemblance to King? No. He's a cheat, a liar, a racist, a homophobe, a mysogonist(sp?) and a blight upon this country.

May he burn for all eternity in his self created Hell.

May the boil that is he be popped, and let him scream "My Goo, my precious goo!"

Amen.

I agree with you, we all going to face death not matte what is something we can not avoid, taxes and death.

Some deserve compassion some deserve scorn and we have the right to express our opinions about people that has public lives that has influenced our own lives one way or another.

The way we die is something that we can not stop.

I am not about to be a hypocrite about certain public figures death so others can feel happy about it sorry but that is the way it goes.

I Respect people for been honest, give me honesty over hypocrites anytime.
