OK a couple of points.

On the US being an empire:
We are not an empire by force. We are an empire because we produce goods that the world wants or needs. In essence, because we deserve it. Name one country that advanced technology as far as us? Without us, there would be no IBM, no Microsoft, no Johnson and Johnson, no space program. How about culturally? Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Orson Wells, George Lucas, none would have exists. We worked extremly hard for the wealth, and we deserve it. Name one other cultural that brought as much to humanity to us. India is up there. I like them a lot.

Also, not that this isn't an us against them mentality. We like China. We like their culture. We like their work ethic and new found capitalism. We don't like their lack of human rights and military dictatorship. I bet we will first see democracy and human rights in China within the next ten years before we see the war. And I am all for it. If I Chinamen discovers the cure of cancer, I'm lining up at the buffet and downing all the General Tso chicken I can, while sending thousands to the local Buddhist monastery. Oh yeah, I love how the chinese vagina is not exactly plumb.

India, Russia, are fine. We like them a lot and their is no way we go to war. As far as Brazil and Venezuela, just call the rest of the western hemisphere America Jr. I mean really, how far will these guys last against us?

As far as Mr. Happy below:

Personally, I think the U.S. is going to "implode" from within, and not too distant in the future either.
I'm not married, but if I were I'd make real sure my wife did not get pregnant right now.
It's not only going to be the economy, but some fightin' to go with it, which might last till doomsday.
I'm not a lunatic here, and take everything and try to reason it out the best I can, but anyone with half a mind has got to realize that there is a heck of a lot wrong with the big picture here.
A LOT wrong.
I'm not sure what people would do here without electricity, and often wonder if they ever think that far ahead.
Every day, all of the people in this country, the U.S., go about their little privaleged lives, walking under a cloud that could start raining on them in the blink of an eye, and they never stop to think about it. As long as they have their frozen icecream and new Humvee in the garage, they are happy.

I really do.

OK you need to see how the rest of the world is living. India, China, and Russia imigrants are astounished at how much wealth we have lying around and take for granted. We aren't going anywhere soon for the next one hundred years.

The only thing I see wrong with America is the War on Drugs, and the ever increasing beurarcy. The War on Drugs, IMHO, is the worst evil of socialist thought. It alone is a waste of millions of lives and trillions of dollars. I guarantee that once we get rid of it, we will see the economy triple, crime rate halved, and people live longer and happier.

The beuracy is getting larger and larger, and in the process damping creative thought and entreunpernership. We need a renassiance of the arts, where people discover that there is more to life than a house, a car and a paycheck. That the emotions and passions of life are worthwhile and there is a life out there to live.

Nazi Germany is responsable for America establishing NASA, where do you think they got their scientists from? They took the ones Russia didn't get first.
Japan is far ahead of America in technology today.
Australia is responsable for a lot of medical breakthroughs.
Sure America has played it's part aswell but don't kid yourself that without America, the world would be bust.

Without us, there would be no IBM, no Microsoft, no Johnson and Johnson, no space program.

Well India provides most of the worlds best programmers and there's a great website which shows all the things Microsoft claim as their inventions but which were actually brought out from someone else, but your right, i couldn't live without baby powder, thank the gentle Jesus for Johnson and Johnson!

How about culturally? Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Orson Wells, George Lucas, none would have exists.

OK, well Jimi Hendrix had to LEAVE America to find fame because America didn't understand him, he went to England and only made an impact at the Monterey Pop Festival 8 months later which he only got on the bill because of Paul McCartney, being on the board, insisting he play. There's culture on par or far exceeding your examples in many countries around the world, America doesn't only provide the worlds culture, it's contributed, yes, but isn't responsable.

Besides, this all has nothing to do with why America is a super power, try looking into the banking system, military industrial complex and corporate globalisation for a more logical reasoning. Those things aren't a greatest gift to the world, they are the reason why there's constant wars and a ever widening gap between the government and the people.

For a country that is 230 years old I say we have acomplished and contributed a lot and have risen to tremendous power in that short of a time.

America doesn't want a lot of people, no just Jimmy Hendrix. A few are Bobby Fischer(I think that's how you spell his name), European Jews and other Central American people. It's not just one.

I live near Microsoft in Washington State. More than 75% of the people that work there are From Japan and the rest of Asia. Is that good enough? The thing that something is developed in the US doesn't mean Americans everytime. Most inventions are NOT made by American. Take John Atanasoff, the guy who invented the computer in the 40's. But no, why should you give him credit when his father was from a communist country in Europe. All that truth is covered up.

So American means a mix from all over the world, especially Asians and European.

Uhhh.. here we go again coming back to your beloved BS. I was referring to our contributions in technology, science, culture, products, world social and govern views. Try researching those before you type again.
