not sure i totally understand what we mean by pornography...

is it visual? aural..? literal ? ....

but i have to say that the internet has served to focus fetishes to an unprecidented extent...

if you want a fetish then you can get it....

Pornography leads to wasted time. A pedophile, rapist, child abductor, whatever, will do what they do reguardless of what images they happen to see. Pornography doesn't cause deviants or sociopathic behavior. But these type of people may like porn.

sorry i disagree

the internet focuses depraved minds like nothing else has done before...

one only has to lookat the success of operation ORE to show the extent of child porn....

ISPs need to take a long hard look at the content that they are allowing...

Nope....no laughter and never was, and nor did I say it was funny.....You seem to have missed the point.

Not that it is of your concern, but my partner was also raped, and repeatedly abused by her ex, so I do not find amusement or enjoyment out of the fact.

don't know what to say about your partners rape....

this is a horrible thing...

but how do you reconcile that with watching pornography?

i've seen some absolutely awful porn in my time and to be honest you don't know what you're going to see next....

and the internet and KaZaA and their ilk have only made it worse.

Seriously people who beat and rape women, girls and boys need to be exterminated.

Pornography is not the problem, though there are some wrong and gruesome images and videos out there of gang rapes and any gross thing one can imagine, this crap I suppose could push an already deranged person to do something horrible.

I believe an evil person is going to do something evil regardless if they get inspired from someone or something else.

I dont really think port will lead a person to comit a crime more then any other consumer product would.
I have heard from some, and do kina agree with, people who watch porn might have more trouble forming a real relationship, or they are watching port instead of haveing a real relationship.
Also in the last telvishen special on porn the actrices they interviewed, although being quite well off finachely, just did like like her self or who she was at all. I think that could also be called another side effect.

You seem to indicate that this subject is funny. These are your words. I would like more clarification.

Ok let me clarify.....

Ranger said that watching pornography does not make him go and rape people anymore than watching a war film makes him kill people.

That statement alone does not say wether or not he actually does go out and kill people..... just that porno does not make him rape more than war films make him kill....

Sorry for any confusion, but i am doing a long, boring night shift, and my British sense of humour (often misunderstood around the globe) took the better of me.

If you desire to see naked people, you will still desire this when you die. The danger is that as a spirit, you will be more than capable of spending the rest of time wandering around viewing naked people...your soul will be trapped on the physical plane by your own desire nurtured, reiterated, and reinforced over a lifetime...

porn can be funny if you have a rational normal detatched view ppoint

but you have to always bear in mind that

1. there are other people/perverts who may not be seeing the images in the same way as you...

2. there are always people who are being exploited to create those images....

and if you can maintain a hardon it those in mind then hmmmm....

sorry didn't mean to make light of it but pornography has been around for 100s of years....

is there an alternative? to sad lonely men jacking off?

i'd like to hear it....

The Documented Effects of Pornography
11/90

In the September issue of The Forerunner (Vol. X, No. VI ), we examined the relationship between pornography and violent crime in an article entitled "Mass Murder and Pornography - Are They Related?"

Michigan state police detective Darrell Pope found that of the 38,000 sexual assault cases in Michigan (1956-1979), in 41 percent of the cases pornographic material was viewed just prior to or during the crime. This agrees with research done by psychotherapist David Scott who found that "half the rapists studied used pornography to arouse themselves immediately prior to seeking out a victim."

The Final Report of the 1986 Attorney General's Commission on Pornography lists a full chapter of testimony (197-223) from victims whose assailants had previously viewed pornographic materials. The adverse effects range from physical harm (rape, torture, murder, sexually transmitted disease) to psychological harm (suicidal thoughts, fear, shame, nightmares.

This thread asked for side effects of porn. It's quite obvious there are side effects that hurt others. People like to bury their head in the sand instead of doing something.

Like all sin when it becomes commonplace it desensitizes mankind's sense of right and wrong and tremendously blurrs the difference between the two.

To provide some context to my original statment:
I have watched copious amounts of porn, and am not saying that it is "bad" or that people should not do it. What I said was that watching porn can increase violent tendancies, which would imply that those tendancies are there to begin with. For those who do not have violent thoughts about the opposite sex, there would be nothing to amplify.

As for objectification, I can believe it. Someone who watches a lot of porn, specifically before having any realtionship with the opposite sex (i.e. children), could possibly have their views distorted to see men/women "as serving a purpose" rather than as another human being. Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, but it seems like a legitimate possiblity to me.

However, in saying thatm you coukd say that condoms made people rape, as they are used in x% of rapes. Or trousers. Or having short hair. Or being a man, because we all know that most rapes are committed by men, therefore being a man makes you rape.

Porn, as your psychotherapist (I hate them) said "half the rapists studied used pornography to arouse themselves ", is just a tool. You could argue that the other half used pictures of Madonna to arouse themselves.

Does this mean Madonna is the cause of the rape, or merely a tool in it?

There is a distinction, and your psychotherapist (I bet good money he is a fundy christian type, very straight laced, and only does the missionary) does not make that distinction.

I have known many couples separated due to Porn. Many woman feel very threatened because some men are such total jerks about it. Below is a repeat from another thread on the same thing:

I've said this before and got rather flamed. There is no innocent porn...none! Those that make the "innocent" porn also make the other...by supporting one, you support the other, the side everyone doesn't to think they are supporting...the rapes, drugged girls, abused woman, abductions and yes, the child porn....people don't want to think they are supporting such things so they justify by saying a little innocent porn is no big deal....justify all you want, tell me how wrong I am all you want, but it will not change the facts! No, I not a cold, puritan type. Yes, I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse which did involve pictures, but, Just for the record so you don't think that's where I am coming from, I enjoy most things that all men and woman do, and then some. Hubby and I are very experimental and I see nothing wrong with anything two consenting adults do in private that hurts no one! I just hate to see people thinking they are doing nothing but having a bit of "innocent" fun when it's a lie. Yes, many girls are doing it for fun, the money, kicks.....but there are just as many that are abducted and drugged.......and again, by supporting one, you support the other. By the way the usual view of "porn" is pictures of strategic areas while engaged in sex with all in full view. Look at the guy above that said "regular" woman no longer look good to him....how truly sad that is. Another problem is that porn gives young men a very warped view of what real sex is like, of true female sexuality....most women, much less girls....are going to act the way they do in pornography
Now, if anyone wishes to flame,
