the reason the boat landed on the top of the mountain was because of the high water levels on the earth at that time... there was a world wide flood, and therefore the first bits of land to become visible and safe to land on would be the tops of moutains....and as for the animals, as the water levels slowly started to decrease the animals could walk down the mountain, and not trek down it all at one time.

Quoting from "The Christ Conspiracy":
Noah's famous "ark",is a myth found in other myths.
As Doane relates,"The image of Osiris of Egypt was by
the priests shut up in a sacred ark on the 17th of Athyr (nov 13th),
the very day and month on which Noah is said to have entered is ark"
Noah is in fact another solar myth and the ark represents the sun
entering into the "moon-ark",the Egyptian "argha",which is the
crescent or arc-shaped lunette or lower quarter of the moon.
This "argha of Noah" is the same as Jason's "Argonaut" and "arghanata"
in Sanskrit.Noah's ark and its eight "sailors" are equivalent to the heavens,
earth and the seven planets,i.e. those represented by the days of the week.
The biblical flood story is a late offshoot of flood myths known everywhere
in the ancient world as found earlier in India,Egypt,Babylon,Sumer, etc.
So,the fable of Noah, the progenitor of the human race,is just a myth.

Application was made with the Turkish Government for a "full excavation permit" for work on "Noah's Ark". While waiting on the permit, Ron Wyatt, Richard Rives and Marvin Wilson of the United States and Dr. Allen Roberts, of Sydney Australia, were taken hostage. At gunpoint, they spent 21 days climbing mountains in Eastern Turkey as their assailants avoided the Turkish forces attempting to rescue them.

Maybe the burly Russian archaeologists are just a little tougher at defending themselves against bandits than other wussy scientists.

Strange post Joshm,
The level of the water ...has nothing to do with the steepness and hazards of the slopes of a m ountain underneath..it is still hazardous to trek down for various animals not accustomed to such a terrain. Many of them would perish dooming the various species.
Any good accomplished sailor would make soundings as to how level the terrain under the keel is ..by ropes with weights on them. This is obvous by the stories of Mark Twain and the river boats. As a matter of fact his name Mark Twain is a example of the words given when sounding the bottom for depth and levelness under the hull. This is known information by any sailor ..river or ocean derived from centurys of seamanship.
Just some food for you thoughts. Thanks Orangetom

In the story, yes, but in reality, there's never been a worldwide flood.

Ron Wyatt wasn't a scientist. The turks were probably nicer with the Russians than wyatt because the russians weren't charlatans like Wyatt.

Its funny how some would say that the existence of various flood legends from different cultures proves the Flood account of Noah to be false. Usually when there are multiple clues to a similar event, this should prove something really happened. The story could be told from different perspectives from the families who witnessed it. Noah's flood is supposed to older than the Egyptian culture, older than the Sumerian culture and so on. The Sumerians had the oldest records which seems to show that legend originated from there. The element that seems to be common in all the legends are the details about the actions of the gods. The Hebrew text also makes mention of the gods but it does not elaborate on their activities. Many churches supress this thinking because they can't believe that God would allow the angels to mate with human women. The angels' integrity had to be tested as well. They had free will, but they chose badly and sunk mankind to an all time low.

Yeah. Does anyone defending the ark story care to explain exactly how such a story would be possible?

A global flood less than 10,000 years ago that left no physical evidence.

Wait, it was a miracle.

Now if you actually believe in the flood story, don't you have to believe in evolution as well?

There are millions of species of animals. New ones are discovered every year. So, no way could Noah fit one of each kind, as well as food for 40 days. He would've needed a second ark just for food. So if Noah could only bring so many animals aboard, did the other forms of life around today just quickly evolve?

Please, if faith is so important to your religion, stop trying to twist science to support it.

Even if they find a boat up there, the fact remains that there is no evidence of a global flood. Where did the water go? Hollow Earth?

Actually many civilizations that never had any ties or contact with the Myth of Mesopotamia and the Hebrew, does talk about a catastrophe and they have their own version of the deluge.

Now, that only tells that in sometime in ancient times the earth went through some changes, and also shows that perhaps the Hebrew myth follows the same ancient accounts passed on and taken from others and not necessarily was link to them specifically.
