I've been thinking we should have a psychology forum on ATS, now I origonaly posted a thread on this a few months ago, but it died, but since than I've been seeing a lot of positve things that it could be used for, such as memories of absuction, figuring out if someones possesed or if its just a psychological problem, it could also be used to discuss psychological motives of criminals and politicians and the like.

I would like to hear everyones opinion on this, and if you think its a good idea, I'm also starting a patician on this thread, so at the end of your posts say I vote for a psychological forum if you like the idea.

Thanks

May you have eternal joy and enlightenment.

I like this idea. We have so many psychology intrests on ats we should have a psychology forum. Besides, won't it come to that eventually anyway with all of the growth of psychology topics? Great idea.

Iori, you're a buddhist? Cool!! Would love to chat with you some time.

Personally, I think psychology is stupid. It's a bunch of BS!! Guess what? I'm a psych major, I know. Anthropology is much better, IMO. If there was a PSY forum started, what the hell would be posted in it? I'm assuming you're drawing a distinction between psychology and parapsychology. In my opinion, not a great idea. I think psychological issues can be covered by the existing forums.

I'd love to see a psychology forum - it'd give all of us serial killer addicts a place to post abnormal psychology findings.

I'd also like to see a philosophy forum. I believe with the amount of intelligence on ATS, there could be some great discussions in there!

The philosophy peice i could due without, but i think that there are enough other people that it should also be considered.

I like this idea. I'm very interested to any topic related to psychology. Why do people think or react a certain way while others don't. How to deal with certain type of personality etc. Nice.

Psychology as a science may fit best into the "Ignorance Denied" site.

Shure, this is a practical solution.

A Psychology Forum? You Must Be Crazy!

Sorry, but I couldn't resist the opportunity for a cheap and admittedly groaneriffic joke.

In light of how many ATSers have obvious psychological issues, myself most certainly not excluded, I think you may very well be on to something, old chap!

I say what-oh, let's give it a run-go, eh?

Let me stand on the soap box and give my 2 cents.

Nope. Psychology and Psychiatry would have to reform before I would even accept that it is a valid science.

An institution that tries to push my nephew into seeing a specialist, which leads to Ritalin, will never get my love.

An institution that catalogues abnormalities into diseases and disorders, and then procedes to make you further unaware of your surroundings with their magic pills, doesn't get my love.

And to see us as just animals and a mass of chemicals is degrading. There is a reason that humans drive drive cars and go to work, and cows and horses don't. Forget the big brain theory, I don't know of any Hippos that teach Calculus.

I'll take religion and spirituality over chemicals and brain theories any day.

Ok, I will step down off the soap box for now.

Peace,

Troy

I really was looking for this to be an ATS, since Ignorance denied doesnt seem to get as much attention.

Well I give this proposition my full support.

I think that psychological discussions could do nothing but benefit us here.
There are so many aspects whereby psychological discussion could assist us in studying many of the matters which are raised on this site.

Every topic discussed on here would fit into a psycological study thread.Cannot see how fitting all subjects into one for disscussion would do anythingother than jaming it up.If anybody has an views relating to Psycology or any dissorders in anybodies post that can be raised on each individual thread. Also wouldn`t go down to well putting peoples postings into a thread that would offend. For example Mr Weise would have made exellent reading for any of us Pyscologists on here, but would have prevented him from posting. There are individuals on here that can be tracked once they post something of interest, the great part of this site is you can do it without that individual knowing.

I bet most threads could fit in under medical issues or science. If not, try ID.

There's no need to create forums right and left.

I like to make sure I didn't shove my foot completely in my mouth. I disagree with Psychology and Psychiatry, but I am not at odds with those who chose these professions, with the idea of helping others. I do have a friend who is in the Psychology field, at least to some degree. I don't agree with his choice of professions but I assume he chose the field to help others.

cybertroy,
I agree, compeltly. A friend of mine was locked up for years, he was fine. They said he had an anger issue because he defended himself one day. He was 10 years old, against an 18 year old. They just kept him there because of the money. When he left he was given lots of head tests, passed flying colors, even got top secert clearance, at the pentagon. He is still fine, holds a good job, friendly not loopy at all. It is a scam, as you point out so well.

A psycho forum? why not? lets get out in the air.
Like why are the kids, that shoot others in schools, on prescription drugs?
In fact that is a good idea for a thread, see ya.

Thanks Balaams donkey, I expected to catch some crap for my views. But I was thankful to have some support. The truth will be made known.

Yes, on these grounds alone, such a Forum will be of benefit to many.

Personally, I believe there are dangers inherent in both liposuction and stapling operations, but the patient can go on to a normal well-adjusted life away from morbid obesity, and generally there will not need to be a lot of work on repressed memories except in cases of severe medical misadventure.

Sorry I could not resist. But we do have sections related to Psychology right now, don't we?

I think a Psychology forum should be merged with a Hallucinogen/Altered States forum. This topic has been evolving ever since Aldous Huxley took 1/4 a gram of Mescaline on that spring morning in 1953. ATS needs to lift the stigma on discussing drug related topics. It's antiquated to say the least.

I think it's a good idea, if it does'nt work out, we can always delete it, no harm in trying.
Go for it!
