Who could authenticate

I think that this is a picture of an F15E Strike Eagle during weapons release tests. I am fairly certain that the orange outboard mounts are release points for either smoke bombs or instrument devices. By "instrument devices" I mean an expendable unit that measures the wind and other parameters necessary for weapons drop tests. I think that the items under the engines are antennae used to recieve telemetry from the instrument divices.
