US military police have discovered two long tunnels dug with scraps of metal and wood leading out of the largest detention facility in Iraq, military officials said today

They were discovered on Thursday, before anyone had a chance to escape, Lieutenant Colonel Guy Rudisill, spokesman for detainee operations in Iraq, told Reuters.

What about the ones that are not found ??

this is a surprise? tunneling out of prison camps is a time honered tradition. infact is escape not considered to be a duty? it was at least dureing both world wars.

Thanks to some good detective work, we managed to find them before anyone escaped," Rudisill said.

Sgt. Schultz was said to know nothing.

Yes, i believe it is the duty of all POW to at least try to escape.

And as they were not 'high value' detainees, they obviously had less scrutiny than other prison camps. After all, the tunnels were dug.

Well that is nothing to be surprised at, Sadam was a master at digging all over the city.

Perhaps the people digging the holes were Sadam's old crew.

almost sounds like they read the great escape lol.did they have a homemade vent systom?

it's just that the reorter seems to feel so wounded that they TRY to escape.:lol
r should that be embaresed.

guess some mp's need to read history books, mabe they would learn something. like the fact is a prison is a place to escape from just look at alcatraz
or is it mabe the prisoners are treated like kings
so there is no reason to try to escape.
