Thank You Germany...we protected you for generations and this is how you repay America?

Thank You France....our boys bled to death on the beaches of Normandy and this is your gratitude?

If a war breaks out between China and America, it looks like America will be facing a PRC military armed with high tech weapons made by our "friends" in Germany and France. Secretary-of-State Rice warned them last week that America defends democracy in the pacific, not the EU.....its OUR boys that will be killed by these weapons!!!

Let that sink in....its American boys who will be facing these weapons.

Un-employment is high in Germany and France and their socialist systems can't compete with the free market.....so what do they do? They sell weapons to whoever has the cash...like a Ho on Sunset Blvd!! Maybe we outta ban Mercedies-Benzs from being shipped here. Anyhow here is the linky:

It's all about business, you can't get too emotional about it.

American firms supplied the Germans before and during WWII with trucks, communication equipment, and oil.

A German Company (Krupp Stahl ) supplied the English with ammunition, and was even paid a royalty for every round expended.

It's all about money, nothing else.

Didn't George W. Bush's Grandfather trade with Germany while they were fighting us Brits during the war?

And aren't Mercedes sold in the US built in the US?

Got to agree with that. Money is money, business is business.

Falklands war, HMS Sheffield, Exocet missile (french made) - "our" allies but the result? Read here

What about (so called) "friendly fire" too - here - wars kill people - bullets and bombs have no consciences.

And, doesn't America sell weapons to others too?

Quote

"DONALD RUMSFELD, the US Defence Secretary and one of the most strident critics of Saddam Hussein, met the Iraqi President in 1983 to ease the way for US companies to sell Baghdad biological and chemical weapons components, including anthrax and bubonic plague cultures, according to newly declassified US Government documents. .."

Treasonous? Oh please.
France and Germany are under no obligation to do the US's bidding at every turn. They are our allies, not our slaves.

Genocide? What genocide?
If you are referring to Tibet, their treatment of the Tibetans has certainly been brutal, but calling it "genocide" is more than a bit of a stretch.

Whine, whine, whine. Are we forgetting Iran Contra so quickly? Or afghanistan? Hardly a surprise. And since when is China on America's hit list?

This is such garbage.

Pardon?? I really don't understand that comment?? Genocide is a word associated with America too.

"...The true extent of this disaster is unfolding as time goes by. In light of the continuous revelations about the quantity and types of weapons used in Afghanistan, the worse has not fully materialized. Everyday, US AC 130 gunships, A-10s and B 52s bomb Afghan villages and towns at each turn when a unit of US troops encounter resistance. Consequently, not only, the perpetual death continues but rather, every round of depleted uranium is one additional nail in the collective coffin of the Afghan people......"

Let's not use the Revolutionary War as the example for the French helping us. As a result of the French and Indian War, France had to give up control of North America to England and Spain. Now, during the Revolutionary War, France had been asked by the Americans to help fight Britain, but declined because they really did not believe it was possible for the colonists to win, after all they couldn't. The French government had provided supplies of weapons to the Americans secretly thanks to America's minister to France, Benjamin Franklin, who had found popularity with the French people and French government officials. It wasn't until after the American victory at Saratoga, that the French decided to enter the war on the American side. Prior to them entering, each signed military and political treaties. Now don't forget, Britain was also fighting with Spain so France knew they would be vulnerable and this gave them the opportunity to get even for their loss in the French and Indian war, while also preventing England from gaining new ground in the Americas.

Now I can understand the sentiments of Maximus, but what needs to be understood is that the U.S. has provided China with a lot of the technology that their military uses. Here is an interesting fact sheet for you too look at: www.justfacts.com...

Another problem the U.S. has had is with Israel selling U.S. technology to China. In 2002, Israel was China's second largest supplier of arms. Reverse engineered technology ends up getting sold. The F-10 multi-role fighter is an almost identical version of the Lavi (Lion). Israeli built Python-3 missles are on Chinese fighters.

Its a constant cycle. Everyone is guilty of it unfortunately. The problem will come when France and Germany are (if ever) in a conflict with China. You know who they will call though.

Don't forget to thank Israel while you're at it.
They are they second largest supplier of arms to China.

Korea Times
Russian and Israeli sales make the embargo hopelessly porous. Israel, a U.S. military ally, has never even paid lip service to the embargo or U.S. protests. In fact, its sales of high-tech weapon systems have steadily increased since the 1980s to the tune of billions of dollars of items every year, like fighter jets, air-to-air missiles and battle tanks. In fact the CIA expressed concern over this since at least 1993 when then-CIA director R. James Woolsey indicated exactly that in written testimony to Congress.

Now, Israel is China’s second largest supplier of arms (second only to Russia). Coincidentally, the newest addition to the Chinese air force, the F-10 multi-role fighter, is an almost identical version of the Lavi, or Lion. The Lavi was a joint Israeli-American design based upon the F-16 and financed with about $1.5 billion in American aid. In April 2001, photos of the Navy EP-3E surveillance plane forced to land after a Chinese F-8 fighter flew into its propeller show Israeli built Python 3 missiles under the fighter’s wings. Fighter jets and air-to-air missiles? And the White House has a conniption over the EU lifting its weapons ban?

Why such a big fuss over the EU?
Maybe Israel is worried the EU wil take market share from them.

EDIT: I missed Infinite's comments on this same subject.

No, since France opposed the Iraq War, rabid rightwing fringe types feel obligated to see them as an enemy. Ignoring, somehow, that Chirac was the first foriegn leader to visit Ground Zero, and that France was among the first to commit forces to the Afghanistan operation.

Unfortunately, to the nationalist fanatics here in the US, anything beyond absolute obedience to US wishes and absolute praise of US policy constitutes betrayal. Cue the "freedom fries" stupidity and self-righteous references to the Noramandy invasion 50 years ago...

I think that the French and Germans said that they will not sell any weapons yet. I think this is because of W. he went along with the Europeans about giving Iran incentives fro their cooperation. I think in return the Europeans have at least halted the lifting of the ban, for now.

I certainly hope so, but I would also hope that the U.S. would help regardless of existing differences.
