In the gleaming darkness
Beneath the vapid sea
There lies an ancient tome
Of truths unknown to me

It lies there damp and dark
As its pages go unread
Unable to convey
The memories of dread

And little do we know
Of times that passed before
Of heinous rites and slaughter
Of battles fought and war

And to those who seek it
They only have to look
Down the depths of darkness
And open up the book

Agreed!

I particularly liked the use of the word vapid. Great imagery!

Now... this is the type of poetry I like:

rhyme and meter... and imagery.

Some might think this style is archaic

but it is whatI prefer.

More..?

i like that type too,
but i tend to prefer none ryhming poems though, it has more meaning to it and its more easier to put emotions and pain across.
