Hey, we armed Saddam Hussein to the teeth with WMD's before we decided he was the leader of the Axis of Evil.

Public Order Act, which can be used under the vague proviso that someone is using 'abusive or insulting words' that cause 'harm' to someone else.

Seriously ? is there really one damn person in the whole world that a word can actually hurt ? especially if it is not even directed right at them ?

Soon we will be arrested for saying hello to some introvert and causing them distress !

PLEASE GOD BRING AN ASTROID AND START OVER !!!

Yes we did, to fight Iran, correct?

We don't arrest people for "hate speech" yet.

The woke agenda is being pushed on us at every opportunity and on every level.

Its just a constant drip feeding of wokism and pushing the interests of every special interest group above and before ordinary, everyday people.

I'm all for live and let live and you honestly couldn't meet a less prejudiced person and I don't believe in imposing my morals and personal beliefs on others.
But neither do I expect those of others to be forced on me or my cares, concerns, best interests and opinions to be ignored at the expense of a self-hate, guilt ridden, hyper-sensitive, hateful and divisive agenda that undermines many of our core principles and social underpinnings.

Society needs change and some of its injustices need eradicating but this woke agenda will only increase and exaggerate existing divisions.

Whose agenda does that serve?

Not to offend, but it serves Satan's agenda.

Amen, sister!

That's the problem, the law exists so it can be applied.

People let laws be created without caring about them, but when those laws are applied against them or against someone they consider "on their side" then they complain about the police instead of complaining about their own lack of action.

That is some freedom you got there UK.

Because the US is the bastion of freedom of thought and speech at present?

People in glass houses and all that.

How do you?

You fought Hitler for this?

I refer the 'honourable' gentleman to the answer I gave earlier.

Shame on you.

Indeed.

Any opportunity to spout your anti-UK bigotry.

They fundamentally arrested The bible! If he was directly quoting the bible, then it should either be identified where in law that the book is outlawed, or this police force should be sanctioned and the man rewarded damages, plus a statement made that it is not outlawed to quote the bible in public.

The problem with woke culture is that it’s so full of contradictions that it can’t be properly debated to a point where it’s mantras (because that’s all it really consists of) can be law without sacrificing free speech.

Free speech is the absolute foundation of a democracy. Without it the house of cards collapses. But since the current regime obviously have an agenda to disrupt and remove free speech by stifling all of its manifestations, its not at all surprising that a woke culture, itself promoting hate is being fostered in policy and culture.

Divide and conquer! While we’re busy spitting bile at one another the ruling classes can freely continue to build their world which locks all of us surfs into lives of servitude. If only those obsessed with petty grudges could turn that energy onto the one thing that unites us all - that whatever colour or creed, we are all surfs to the same elite web of masters.

If only there were magic sunglasses we could put onto the faces of the angry, useful idiots to show them the destination of their efforts to control speech because it offends their particular allegiance - a place where they no longer hear what they don’t like, but at the cost of protest and any kind of questioning of the ruling regime. If only they could see that tptb live while we sleep and the only thing we’ll eventually be permitted to say out loud to one another is a lullaby.

Perhaps the key legal point, though, is that he was evdently doing it on a public place (outside a station) rather than in a setting of religious worshp.

We armed Saddam with WMDs. Then used them as a pretext for invasion. Then we couldn’t find them...

Not only are we sheeple, but on top of that the shepherds herding us are idiots.

It’s not a conspiracy, it’s a farce!

The UK sees freedom of speech differently from the US. They consider that context matters, as well as content.

Different culture entirely, and the people are actually pretty happy with it. They see the US system as being like the wild West.

To put it simply this preacher went out of his way to confront a group of people and then loudly said things that they considered to be very offensive.

This isn't considered to be free speech in the UK as the preacher set out to upset and offend. As I said, the people in the UK see free speech differently.

No, they arrested him because he confronted a group of people and started calling out offensive things at them.

It does not matter what he was quoting, it was the fact that he confronted a group of people who had a legitimate right to be there, and said thing that were deliberately said to hurt or offend them.

The UK law is clear on this, it's not what he said it's the context in which he said it.

The fact that he did this in public actually makes thing worse. UK freedom of speech is different from us freedom of speech. Doing things in a public place often has less protection because the audience does not choose to be listen, they just happen to be there when you arrive and start speaking.

Did it?
Care to elaborate?

Now I'm not saying things are perfect here, far from it.....but we have just as many, or just as few, freedoms as the majority of other country's in the so called 'free' world.

And why would it be ok to do that?

It's one thing thinking that and maybe writing it down etc or voicing it in private conversations but do you honestly think its ok to scream things like that to random strangers in public?

Yes, it's his opinion. As long as he wasn't threatening them with bodily harm he can say what he wants. And if they don't like it they can either ignore him and walk away, yell back or kick his ass.

That's how it is here in the U.S.

Offensive speech is not illegal here because we don't like to value someone's opinion on what they perceive is offensive over someone else's opinion on what they think is offensive. Or else you get this back and forth well this is offensive let's add that....oh and this group thinks this is offensive let's add that in there.....oh now this group thinks this other thing is offensive let's add that now too.

Therefore as long as the person isn't inciting violence or threatening violence then ALL speech is protected by our constitution.

As a social experiment-someone should see what happens if they report someone for reading the koran.

The result may tell us if the law is being applied fairly or selectivley/politically.

IMO the people who pushed for these laws about "causing offence" had zero interest in fragile people being offended-rather they love the idea that the cops can get involved for the most petty, ridiculous reasons. Its all about the slow, constant erosion of peoples right to go about their day without the state sticking their beak in.

I bet the cops are sick of it tbf-they sure have more important things to be focused on.

Funny how all this PC BS has continued under a government who claim to be against such nonsense..
