If you are simply getting arrested for speaking the Word of God in a public forum then offense is all it takes it seems.

If.

Even though this is an isolated event it still sets a precedent and is intolerable to happen in this country.

That's why I don't like vague laws, they can easily be abused and only decided on courts for each case.

This one was never even taken as far as a Court.

Common sense and justice prevailed.

Just a bit of perspective.

It doesn't matter whether it was taken to court or not!!

What DOES matter is the arrest in the first place! He should never have been arrested period.

If this is tolerated then where we are heading too is a place I don't want to be.

It does matter. And he was NOT arrested for his religious beliefs. He was being an idiot.

In the States, he'd have probably been tasered and shot.

Please get some perspective?

Being an idiot is not a crime but, that's not why he was arrested. He was arrested for expressing non PC views...views that I share. It's absolutely despicable.

Is there nothing that can be done to get this "law" repealed?

I believe that if you look into it, he was arrested for being a public nuisance.

He can say those words in his own church and not get arrested. He can go to one of the many public "free speech" areas in Britain and shout it there. He can publish those words.

BUT... if he stands on a street corner and yells about it for hours on end, someone's going to ask him to move. Same as if he stood there and yelled Alice Cooper lyrics.

We have the same laws here in the US. He could apply for a speech permit on my college campus and (if granted) stand there with a bullhorn and yell at everyone for hours on end. People do this. BUT if they take that same bullhorn and walk off campus to a street corner and say the same things, they're going to be hauled off for creating a public nuisance.

Being "on fire for the Lord" is not a license to stand around in public spaces without permission and shout at people.

It's not illegal here in the UK and requires no permit

He is a qualified pastor so no.

You can't arrest people if other people think you are a dick or most of the country would be behind bars
