Nas was promoting his new single, which was released on Monday
Shots have been fired inside London's Brixton Academy during a performance by the American rapper Nas.
The husband of pop star Kelis was performing at the south London venue when shots rang out at about 2200 GMT.

It is believed a man jumped up on stage and fired a weapon towards the crowd during the show, which was the finale of a UK promotional tour.

The venue was evacuated by police, but Scotland Yard said officers had not yet found anyone who had been injured.

In what seems to be becoming the norm these days, another shooting has been reported with apparent links to the Rap/Gang culture that has developed in recent years in the UK.

This is not an isolated incident either. There have been many shootings recently, many as a result of an increase in gangland violence. Just last week, four black men where sentenced for the murder of two teenage girls in a gangland style drive by shooting, in which the two girls died, and two of their friends were seriously injured.

One has to wonder why these people think it is "cool" to try and kill and maim people, just because of what are usually minor grievances. There has been a noticable rise in violent gang culture around the entire of the UK, especially in inner city areas, leaving many places unsafe to go after dark, and some unsafe even during the day.

Is it possible this was a part of the show, to build up hype and get attention? Is it possible that the man was firing blanks?

Bloody stupid idea if it was, seeing as Scotland Yard were called in and have initiated Operation Trident:

She said: "We believe that two shots were fired towards the ceiling. Two bullets and two casings have been recovered from the scene."

She added that officers from Operation Trident, which deals with gun crime within the black community, would be taking over the investigation.

YO uare wrong.

It's not that it's a thought of coolness. It's a mentality.

I grew up in the innercity and know about this all too weel.

Most people here on the ATS board didn't grow up in such

circumstances. If you did, speak up.

I've been shot at and have had friends murder and been

murdered. Guns were commonplace as was the weed, coke,

xtacy, lsd, and all the other drugs you can think of. Pussy galore

and rules.

That's what it comes down to. When you live in a culture like

you can expect violence because that is the punishment.

If you break the rules, there is a system of punishment. And

it's violent.

Dude, I don't know what your problem is, and what exactly am I wrong about?

I live in an inner city environment, where the majority of the population are poor, black, and live this gangland style of life. It is unsafe to go out in some area's at night, and I personally, in the past two years, have been mugged or attempted to be mugged at least 4 times.

On top of that, I also lived in Northern Ireland during the 80's, where my father had to carry a sidearm at all times (even to go to the shop), I lived behind 20 foot steel and concrete barricades, was escorted to school by armed soldiers, and had to check and watch for bombs and supicious packages all the time.

I know the score. Don't presume you are the only one and put others down as a result.

EDIT:

And no matter how you try and defend the way these barbarians behave, it is fecking stupid. They do not comprehend the damage they do to people, do not care who they hurt. Don't give me that BS about it being "a system of punishment", as that is a load of crap.

EDIT 2: And it's being voted out as well. Figures........
