Been thinking about that question:

Why is it "defund the police" instead of "defund the police's leadership"?

The bosses are the problem. They keep running things in self perpetuating cycles, where the police "crack down" on drugs, but never actually improves its relationship with the local community in a way that would help them stop the next cycle of drugs.

So the community grows to fear them instead of love them. Especially black communities, where the violent factions are most frequently left to run free. (That's where tomorrow's bust numbers will come from. Can't go curtailing that!!!)

What you get is this command structure that focuses on making itself seem necessary. Keeping the bogeyman alive, but in check. (Unless you live in the bogeyman's neighborhood, where is is totally not in check.)

But ordinary cops? They'd like to live until the end of their shift. Or better yet: survive a whole 20 years, so they can collect the pension. There is no way rank and file cops are complicit in this cycle.

"Oregon's biggest industry is actually tourism. It comes from having a low population, and several natural tourist attractions around"

But you do remember the timber industry though, right?

The one that was the largest in the country from 1910 through the early 80s?

The one that used to produce over 2 billion board feet per year?

And now only produces 45 million?

So many jobs lost.

Thanks to dems wanting to 'save' the spotted owl.

Might have been cheaper to just buy the owls a forest of their own.

Or give them the entire state of Rhode Island.

Instead of destroying what had been Oregon's largest economic driver for past 70 years.

And so many family supporting jobs.

But dems gotta dem.

So now Oregon's largest economic activity is minimum wage tourism.

I wonder how that tourism turns out now that leftists have scared so many away from Oregon.

Thank you leftists

I get a kick out of dem environmentalisms idiocies. "Old growth forest" being somehow better than "new growth forest".

It's always about leaving things in their natural state.

Forgetting that, if we consider "nature" over the whole universe, then planets like Earth are much less common than planets like Venus and Mars.

The natural state of a human being is to be naked and starving, out in the elements.

Well Honestly.
A police 911 call should only be made to have them clean up the bloody mess, that was once your attacker/threat and make the report that the vitimizer will no longer be a productive, "taxpaying", contributing member of "society".

Real "emergencies" are fire and medical...
Police "enforce" revenue.

Patterns persist, but don't you mention it!

Why even partake in this nonsensical union?
