Cystic Fibrosis Sufferers and Prescriptions

Does anyone know why within the NHS how they work out who does and doesnt have to pay for prescriptions. I thought it was too do with the condition itself and or whther you were claiming benefits. But do you know that Cystic Fibrosis suffers cannot get free prescriptions!!!

I believe rules say that it must be a life threatening illness to get free prescriptions. Cystic Fibrosis sufferers only have an average age of 31, if that doesnt tell you that they tend to die young then what does.

Also did you know that 1 in 25 people in the UK carry the Cystic Fibrosis gene. And what do the government say about this.......NOTHING. They are not affected by it so who cares.

Can anyone shed any light on why the government will not acknowledge the plight of CF sufferers?
